Congratulations to Rachelle Dambrose who was nominated by her professor for being an outstanding commuter student. Rachelle’s professor said,
“Rachelle Dambrose is one of our most dedicated math majors. She has worked for the department as a student aide for several semesters, and has also worked in our open tutoring lab. Rachelle is a solid and dependable student, having participated in the Jepson SSI and currently writing her honors research thesis in mathematics, to be defended in April. In all, a very capable student.”
Getting to know Ray: What is your year/major? “I am a senior graduating with a major in mathematics and a minor in computer science.” How long is your commute? “I am very local. I live 10 miles from campus, about a 20 minute drive.” What are you involved with on campus? “I am part of Pi Mu Epsilon, an honorary math group. I also work two jobs on campus, tutoring math and aiding the mathematics department.” What is your favorite thing about being a commuter? “Honestly, I enjoy being able to see my pets during the semester; I would miss my cat if I lived on campus!” What advice do you have for other commuters? “Borrow audiobooks and make awesome CDs for the commute. It might be hard to get yourself out the door and to school on time, but my commute has been a lot easier with peppy music or a good story on the way.”
