“the concept of this restaurant is my love letter to Singapore” - Chef Pepe Moncayo

The national flower of Singapore is a stunning orchid boasting vibrant colors, inspiring the rich jewel tones found in this palette. The tiered and curvilinear dining room takes inspiration from the incredible architecture and botanical landscaping found in Singapore. The port city’s official mascot, the Merlion, finds it’s way into the backbar design, and blue hues referencing the maritime trade sneak into the palette as well. All combine to proudly evoke the soul of Singapore.

Ph ilippe by P hil ip pe Ch ow Washington, D.C., opened summer 2023 Context: 9000 sq ft first gen restaurant space Food concept: Beijing-style cuisine Project Role: Interior Designer/Design PM A design concept derived from the Chinese Junk Ships and the waters they travel on. Architectural elements pull identity from the ships’ built form, utilizing strong verticals and orthogonal patterning. Furniture softens the space building a rhythm similar to waters movement, ebbing and flowing in a clear direction. Sunset over the ocean inspires the palette and lighting equally, relying on a dark and strong base, while allowing brilliant golds and reds to stand out. Unique and hidden corners of the space reference the prohibition of junk ships with secret doors and bold identities behind. Warm and dark woods used throughout are reminiscent of the Junks interior, while mirrors and glass are used to emulate the waters ever changing reflections.

As lin B ee r C o Aslin Filling Station - Washington, D.C. Context: Renovation of 1100 sq ft interior autobody shop, 7200 sq ft parking lot, with 1000 sq ft additional public space.

Opened July 2022 Project Role: Interior Designer Concept --> Construction Documentation Design: Taking the established brand of Aslin Beer Co and imbuing influence from the location’s history to create the Aslin Filling Station identity. 1950s gas station architectural forms are complimented by machined and industrial finishes to round out the concept. Mayor Muriel Bowser contributed to the two story wall mural of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Enscape renderings, schematic plan for ANC approval, concept imagery, bar front rebar detail installation shot

Opened March 2022 Project Role: Interior Designer Concept --> Construction Administration Concept tagline: Hey Home Slice Core of this concept revolves around enthusiasm found in 90s nostalgia, balancing the client request to pull inspiration from both Saved by the Bell and Scandinavian design

Finish highlights include bold and contrasting patterns, dichroic films, and warm woods. Custom graphics and grid patterns repeat through the space. Ceiling accent lines point to existing brick & mortar locations of ownership group as celebration of what they bring to the table

Fo untai n Inn Washington, D.C.; Opened March 2022 Context: 1500 sq ft renovation in historic Georgetown.

Originally established in 1783 by clockmaker John Suter, The Fountain Inn (also known as Suter’s Tavern) is where the first presidential debate between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went down in 1800.

Concept Tagline: History Consumed. Concept is pulled from the location’s unique history and owner’s desire to celebrate it both within the design choices as well as drinks being offered.

Project Role: Interior Designer Concept --> Construction Drawings Reincarnating history, with a twist.

Rich materials, heavy textures, and dark woods are used to set the stage for guests to consume history, and create it.

Context: Development of upper midscale new build hotel brand. Design work 2018-2019 Project Role, Bid Process: RFP Response - muse and narrative development, guestroom concepting, guestroom space planning and conceptual design + interview pitch.

Bid Timeline: 10 days Project Role: Lead Interior Designer / guestroom & public space Design concept --> Design Documentation & handoff to AOR. Coordination with 3rd party rendering team Bid Response: Conceptual sketching, diagrammatic studies, sketchup + photoshop

Bo utique Hotel

Our Marquee End User is not new to the Existing HQ, however she is visiting the hotel for the first time.

Giddy to see her work and research displayed in guestrooms, she posts a quick shot to her Instagram for her followers to see. She then heads to a meet and greet in the lobby space, enjoying lively conversation and local bites. She’s the keynote speaker for the leadership retreat, so heads to the Storytelling Institute to prepare. She’s always excited to share her research and expertise - the session goes off without a hitch.

She heads back to her room to refresh her outfit before heading up to the rooftop cocktail party.

Washington, D.C. - Client NDA Context: Boutique Hotel Adaptive Re-use Board Proposal Coordinated effort with Client and JLL to build proposal to Board members for approval to move forward with Boutique Hotel. Utilizing the Client’s Strategic Plan and Mission Benefits Summary to envision hotel possibilities.

Timeline: April 2022 Project Role: Interior Designer Highlights: Develop muses and narratives to tell the story of each potential end-user within the space, both Market and Mission motivated. Develop conceptual floor plate options and public space amenity layouts. Develop conceptual guest room layouts and design ideas.
