Manufacturing Process

Our IOLs are manufactured using Diamond Lathing Process that provides unique advantage over other manufacturing methods. Diamond Lathing refers to the process of cutting a desired shape onto a hydrophobic acrylic lens at controlled low temperatures using precisely shaped diamond tools.

Throughout the lathe cutting process, the temperature of the material is controlled and maintained at a level that allows for a very high level of precision when the optical design of the lens is applied to the surface. Accurate temperature control is a critical step of the lens manufacturing process. Maintaining the temperature at sufficiently low temperatures keeps the polymer in the rigid state necessary to apply the optical design on the lens. The lathing process is designed to ensure precision and uniformity in the optical surfaces which contributes to the consistent, high-quality performance of our IOLs, especially our Multifocal IOLs.

Hydrophilic (HEMA) Material

Why opt for Foldable Intraocular Lenses?

The traditional material used in the manufacture of Intraocular Lenses for over 50 years now, has been a clinical grade of PMMA, which has been found to be suitable for implants in the human body

The disadvantage of PMMA is that it is hard and it cannot be folded. Hence, the size of the incision in the eye for the insertion of the actual lens has to be at least as large as the diameter of the IOL

The clear advantage of a foldable lens is the size of the incision. It can be made very much smaller so the trauma caused to the eye during the surgery is considerably reduced and the quality of vision is greatly improved by reducing the Surgically Induced Astigmatism. Hence, the surgery becomes simpler and the patient’s recovery is faster

Since 1949 Intraocular lenses have been made of PMMA, due to its lightness, clarity and stability Even today, PMMA is the material of choice. PMMA offers outstanding stability and optical quality for a predictable outcome and maximum performance. Millions of odd eyes have been implanted with our basic and premium range of PMMA lenses with excellent outcome. Thanks to the inherent quality of the material.

SINGLE PIECE - IRIS CLAW

Iris-Claw Lenses are the most reliable option for secondary IOL implantation in both Phakic and Aphakic eyes when no capsular support is present. This precision engineered product of ours is most popular among leading surgeons in India, and is being consistently supplied to leading surgeons/hospitals worldwide. Centration related issues are averted in these lenses and when compared to other Phakic lenses, they have the advantage of preserving the anterior chamber anatomy in Aphakic eyes. After a well performed Vitrectomy, the Iris Diaphragm slightly displaces itself backward, and the implanted IOL maintains a greater safety distance.

A capsular tension ring may not hold the bag in place during Phaco if the Zonules are very weak. Surgeons, sometimes, use the Iris Retractors on the rim of the Capsulorhexis in order to manage this problem. But Iris Retractors aren’t designed for this purpose. Since the Iris Retractor comes in at an angle, the hook is not in the same plane as that of the rim to be supported by it.

In contrast, Capsule Care is designed such that the hook is angled to be in the same plane of the anterior capsule. As a result, it is easy to get a firm and reliable grip on the rim. Further, the tip of the hook is rounded to prevent any accidental damage to the peripheral capsule while placing the hooks in the bag. The round tip also provides a larger support area per hook thereby reducing the number of hooks required in each surgery Once the hooks are placed in position to support the capsule, an Endocapsular Ring can be inserted

Advantages

• Maintains the position of the capsule during Phaco

• Supports the Firnix as well as the Capsulorhexis rim, so that the peripheral capsule isn’t attracted towards the Phaco tip

• Avoids the problem of the Capsular Tension Ring Trapping Cortex

• Prevents Zonular Stress during Nuclear Rotation

• Set of 2 sterile Capsule Care from the Endothelium for better preservation

LIBERTY - ENDOCAPSULAR RING

ENDO CAPSULAR RING 30

To simply state, the Endo Capsular Ring offers higher safety Indeed, it allows prevention of Capsular Fibrosis and of Severe Capsule Shrinking. It also enables to restore the circular shape of the capsular bag in case of damaged Zonules. The Endo Capsular Ring is available in several sizes to adapt to the different morphologies of the patients.

After the cataract surgery, the capsular bag is opened by injecting Viscoelastic Fluid.

ECR INJECTOR AAT 3739

• The Endo Capsular Ring is inserted into the bag with tying forceps and a micro-manipulating hook

• We recommend you to insert the first end of the Endocapsular Ring into the eye through a service incision

• The hook is introduced through the phaco incision. It enables to glide the ring into the bag while it is being gradually pushed through the incision by the forceps

• Once inserted into the anterior chamber, the capsule-tension-ring is grabbed by the hook through the wound slit. It pushes the second end into bag through the rhexis

• In case of wrong insertion, the second loop must be released on the Zonnular breaking point. This is of no importance in the usual incision cases

• It is recommended to place the ring before implanting the Intraocular Lens

• The IOL Implantation is therefore performed more easily with a dense Viscoelastic Fluid

Indications

1. The Zonules are missing or damaged

2. Cases of Lens Luxation during Phaco complications

3. Zonular breakage during sudden unfolding of a lens.

4. Zonulysis

5. Pseudoexfoliation

Advantages

1. Circular expansion of the capsular bag

2. Stable conditions during surgery

3. Safer IOL centration

4. Prevention of Capsular Fibrosis

5. Prevention of Capsular Shrinking

Indication

During the cataract surgery, the capsular tension ring is implanted to stabilize and recentralize the capsular bag in the following cases:

• Local missing or damaged Zonules (>14;4-5 hours)

• Generalized Zonular weakness demonstrated by Iridonesis and / or Phacodonesis

• Lens Subluxation induced by trauma or disease states such as Marfan’s Syndrome or Pseudoexfoliation

• Improper stabilization of the Capsular bag using normal style of capsular tension rings

• Anterior or posterior Subluxation of cataract

• Decentralization of lens in the bag caused by dehiscence of Zonules

Contraindications

• Incomplete non-continuous anterior Capsulorhexis

• Posterior capsule tear

Intracorneal rings (ICR) are also called as Intrastromal Corneal Implants or Intrastromal Corneal Rings. These rings are nothing but micro thin inserts of varying thicknesses composed of Biocompatible plastic. Intra Corneal Rings can be used directly in the contact lenses or in the cataract surgery These ICR segments are two plastic shaped removable implants which are inserted on the perimeter of a Corneal Stroma through a small surgical incision. The surgery is usually performed in ambulatory setting under local anaesthesia

The rings are used for Keratoconus patients to reinforce cornea and for reducing the elongated shape of the cone. In some cases, the vision is also corrected to its normal state.

Intracorneal rings (ICR) are designed to treat near-sightedness. These are two semi-circular shaped plastic devices and are inserted into the edges of the cornea of a Keratoconus eye. ICR helps to flatten the central cornea and thereby decreases near-sightedness. Risk does not matter while using the ICR segments. These segments will reduce the implantation procedure. Intracorneal Ring segments must be placed away from the radial incision to minimize the incision related complications.

Intracorneal Rings are designed using latest surgical technologies and are perfectly accommodated by the eye. There is no risk of rejection. These ring segments are typically used for patients with mild to moderate Myopia. Although they are designed especially for low Myopia (near-sightedness), the device is mostly used by Keratoconus patients of all ages.

Benefits of using Intracorneal Ring for Keratoconus Correction

• Surgery can be performed within the peripheral cornea without any disturbance to the central optical zone

• Quick and predictable results

• Risk free from visual adverse effects

• Long term convenient refractive correction

• Easily removable and exchangeable

• Ideal to treat Irregular Astigmatism
