DESIGN STATEMENT: New Castle, IN is home to a large historic distric in which the William Trail Plaza has been located since it’s construction in 1900. Our design intent of a mixed-use building type, provided a program of a fine dining establishment, bookstore cafe, and residential units, hopes to satisfy the growing needs of New Castle. We strive to revitilize the interior and preserve the original exterior of this renovation of 1129 Broad Street. We aim to bring back the italiante style that evokes a nostalgia all visitors will be able to appreciate.

MURTADHA RESIDENCE RES I DE NT I AL | F A L L 2023

This project was cultivated through a client’s want for a mid-century residence in the historic Flanner Home Neighborhood of Indianapolis, Indiana. Seeking seamless balance between the traditional features of the Flanner Homes and a mid-century flare, the Murtadha Residence becomes a space representing openness and invitation with its modern facades, open-floor plans, and integration within the topographical site.

IMMERSION AT LAZARUS S PI TRI TUAL RETREAT | S PRI NG 2 0 2 3

Carved into the soil, this spiritual retreat creates a relationship between light and internal forms that communicate a tactile celestial experience of spiritual renewal and connection through sanctification. The design blends into the landscape as the form suggests 3 distinct expressions of faith: Falll of C reation, True Repentence, and Sanctification. Symbolic to purity and baptism, water and its reflections become a p hysical transition into new life, the final sanctuary.

HEW DESIGN MI X E D U S E | F A L L 2022 Where there are two or more components coming together, there is a join that provides strength and stability. In the same way, the design of the wood shop and residence become one unit by blending the linear foundational structure into a sculptural molded skin that creates unity in joining two individualistic components. The structure is meant to be experiential, a tactile feature, to reveal the strength of the connections.

FLUX FILMS CIN E MA | SP R IN G 2 0 2 3 This center for cinema and community was conceptualized through the poetic visualization of vignettes in film, influential storytelling devices from the silent films to contemporary films today. As the film reel would spin around the axis, the film would move through the projector, taking the individual framed images and seemlessly creating an ensemble of entertainment.

Likewise, the influx of people continuously circulating within and outside of the building creates a datum along which the program follows. Only from within the encircling spine of circulation can one start to piece together the different facets of the a rchitecture and formuate a whole realization of form.
