We have the draft ready for your comment, so please go onto the Meeniyan website and have a look at this document and see if you can suggest any improvements or alterations

We will need Champions to run with the ideas to make them happen so please come and support your town and make it the best town in Gippsland

to Live/Work/Play

We will have a few hard copies at IGA for you to look at if you don’t have a computer.

Our plan is to Pass this document at the AGM (15th August) with any alterations you have and then hope to Launch it to the public in October with perhaps a BBQ

MEENIYAN HALL COMMITTEE

Last month, Meeniyan Hall’s committee of management arranged for a few keen locals to do a tutorial with Lyrebird’s production engineer Mal Holt on how to operate the Hall’s sound and lighting gear. We’re running a 2nd tutorial with our trainee sound crew on 6th August and Mal Holt will be giving them some hands-on experience of mixing sound, to be ready for the Tavern Night at the Hall on 2 September 2023. With 9 acts already confirmed and sound and lighting production upgraded, this Tavern Night promises to be a fabulous gig.

If you want to talk to us about accessing or holding an event at the Hall, or you have ideas to improve the Hall’s usability, you’re warmly invited to our next committee meeting in the Supper Room at the back of the Hall on Wednesday 2nd August at 7:30pm. The committee welcomes new members.

If you can’t get to our next meeting, come down to the Hall on Sunday 6th August between 9:00am and 10:00am and meet Sarah for a chat.

MEENIYAN RED CROSS

Over 70 people enjoyed the festivities at the Meeniyan Pub celebrating Christmas in July in true community spirit whilst raising funds for the Red Cross. Complete with Christmas tree, decorations, bon bons with bad jokes , delicious Christmas dinner with plum pudding, entertainment by Tarnya Wilson [ see photo], a Christmas trivia quiz and a magnificent raffle, it all made for a very happy and successful night. Many thanks go to the businesses that supported this event including BROWN WIGG, SCHEURS FARM , BERRYS CREEK

WORLD CHAMPION CHEESE, MEENIYAN IGA, MOO’S MEENIYAN & CATHERINE’S HAIR TECHNIQUES. Also thanks to Red Cross members and other community members who donated prizes. A total of over $1,700 was raised which was a fantastic effort. Thank you to Andrew Mackie who took on the role of auctioneer, Tarnya for her beautiful singing, and Greg and Gabi at the pub for their help, and support in organising the event. It truly was the community working together to help each other. Photos show Robyn and Dale Scott and Celia and Richard Sutterby enjoying the festivities. Another new business in town ! Glenn Dundee has transferred his signwriting business South Gippy Signs from Venus Bay to Tompkins Rd in Meeniyan [ behind the pharmacy]. Already he has brightened up the Meeniyan Store with a new bright sign.

Welcome home to Francesco, Claudio and Jaxon Laera who recently returned from holidaying in Italy where they were visiting family. Italy is now experiencing a heatwave so it was a bit of a shock coming back to a South Gippsland winter.

ARRAYS

In 3/4S we’ve been learning about arrays. Arrays include columns, which go up and down, as well as rows, that go across. This week a maths session was used as a ‘find an array activity’. We went outside with iPads and a partner to find different arrays throughout the school. By

There are actually three arrays here:

- 6 by 3

- 6 by 2
