MEDICI PROJECT PRESENTS:

NYC URBAN MISSIONS

WHY THE CITY? With 8.3 million strong and 722 miles of subway track, it's no secret that New York City influences the world in all areas of culture. From fashion, the economy, entertainment, business, education, and the social sector, all eyes are on this city to see what may define and determine the next move for the rest of the world. The world in general is very urban centered. In fact, half the population of the entire world live in cities. With us who live in America, we know how influential New York City is to our culture, and we want to be a part of this culture shaping.

HOW WE SERVE Individuals who join us for serving in NYC will engage in various service opportunities that may include homeless shelters, feedings, kids vbs programs with local churches, community clean-ups, facility maintenance projects, and a whole lot of meeting cool people. Medici Project strategically partners with organizations who are serving individuals within the city on a consistent basis. Therefore, our service doesn’t stop once we leave, these organizations seek to minister and empower those being served throughout the year. Students also get to experience an eclectic encounter of different cultures, both through the context of serving and worship. New York is home to multiple ethnic groups with cultural backgrounds from one end of the spectrum to another. Have you ever joined in worship with a culture that you have no idea what’s being said? You will here.

GOSPEL PROCESS The beautiful thing about serving with Medici Project is that your team has full access to our Gospel centered discipleshipcurriculum as you prepare your students for your trip, as well as post-trip resources that are available through an online private facebook group that is hosted for all of our alumni. Topics covered prior, through, and after your trip include: • What is the Gospel? • Grace Driven Justice • Framework of Poverty • The Power of Collaboration

NYC COSTS Full cost for NYC Urban Missions starts is $545 per person, with add-on options available. This is what the price includes, so you want to plan for extra expenses such as travel, food, etc.: Included • Lodging for 7 nights • 1/2 Day of Training • 4.5 Days of Service • 1.5 Free Days in NYC • Access to Discipleship Curriculum • Metro Card for Transportation • 5 Breakfast • 3 Lunches • 3 Dinners

THE CITY IS FULL OF SOULS Some say that cities themselves have souls. One can visit any city and feel, smell, and experience it's vibrancy, its life. But, without people, the city itself is just acres of infrastructures. Without people, the city has no soul. The people themselves are the souls of the city. These souls are breathing and are in need of redemption from Jesus, the one who loves them. At DoGood, we believe two things: Jesus is the answer to every ounce of brokenness within our culture today, and Jesus is shown to others by how we serve them.

OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS NEED OUR HELP Let's not be naive. One hundred individuals who travel to New York City for a week long of service will not turn it upside down. However, our brothers and sisters who are plowing the grounds there each and every day will. This is why DoGood strategically partners with churches and organizations who are serving the people of NYC each and every day.

THE ATTRACTIONS Along with your trip to NYC, you'll have plenty of time to see the sites. With many nights open for you to hit the 722 miles of subway systems and streets, you'll be able to see whatever your heart desires, or pocket can afford. There's multiple famous sites to see and experience for free and at cost. Some include: • Empire State Building • Central Park • Statue of Liberty • Museum of Modern Art • Times Square • Yankees Stadium • Brooklyn Bridge • Coney Island • Many Others

THE LODGING Located in two of NYC's five boroughs called Manhattan and Queens, lodging for the NYC Trip with Medici Project will be hosted at our partnered housing organizations. With dormitory style housing, there's 4-6 bunk beds to a room with half bathrooms in each room. Separate showers are available, with a prayer room and lounge located in each facility. In the Manhattan campus, a full kitchen is available for use. Our Queens partner offers a meal plan that can purchased prior to arrival. We will also have access to the chapel where each morning we will prepare our hearts and minds before the Lord to engage in our service opportunities.

MEDICI PROJECT What if the solution to the current state of our culture came from those who are about to inherit it? We believe in infusing new life into our dying world through a movement birthed and led by the millennial generation, now the largest population group in our nation’s history. To that end Medici Project is creating a movement of cultural renewal fueled by this generation’s inborn desire to impact their communities and world through social good. During the Renaissance when the Medici family cultivated the creativity of artists and scientists such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Galileo, they ushered in the greatest rejuvenation of cultural renewal in history. We believe it can happen again, through the cultivation of passion and creativity of the millennial generation.
