Cilacar T(Cilnidipine Telmisartan) : Benefits, Side Effects, Dosage CILACAR T is a combination of Cilnidipine, a 4th generation DHP calcium channel blocker and Telmisartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker. It is used for the treatment of hypertension. Cilacar T is marketed by JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals limited and comes in two doses namely CILACAR T 40 mg and CILACAR T 80 mg.

Cilnidipine is a 4th generation dihydropyridine calcium antagonist with a slow onset and long duration of action. Calcium antagonists inhibit influx of extracellular calcium ions into the cells, resulting in decreased vascular smooth muscle tone and vasodilation, leading to a reduction in blood pressure. Telmisartan is an orally active and specific angiotensin II receptor (type AT1) antagonist that displaces angiotensin II with very high affinity from its binding site at the AT1 receptor subtype, which is responsible for the known actions of angiotensin II. In humans, an 80 mg dose of Telmisartan almost completely inhibits the angiotensin II evoked blood pressure increase and the inhibitory effect is maintained over 24 hours and still measurable up to 48 hours
