Local Briefs E-scooter hit
■ Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a woman was allegedly hit by an e-scooter in East Melbourne. The 81-year-old woman was walking towards Jolimont Railway Station from the MCG when she was allegedly confronted by a man riding an e-scooter about 11pm on Friday, May 3. As the woman walked away, she was allegedly struck from behind by the e-scooter, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. The e-scooter rider allegedly did not stop and was chased by a passer-by. The victim was conveyed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 46-year-old Melbourne man has been charged with recklessly cause injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and aggravated assault of a female. He was remanded and was to appear before the Bail and Remand Court.

Ormond stabbing
■ Two men have been charged as part of the Homicide Squad investigation into a fatal stabbing in Ormond. A 27-year-old Ormond man has been charged with murder and attempted murder, while a 26-year-old Ormond man has been charged with affray. The pair faced Goulburn Local Court last Thursday (May 9) where extradition to Victoria was granted. They are expected to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. The charges follow an incident in Ormond on Sunday, May 5, where one man was killed and one man was injured. Emergency services were called to a residential property on North Rd about 1am following reports of a dispute. Upon arrival, two men were located with stab wounds. A 22-year-old Noble Park man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, while a 30-year-old Noble Park was taken to hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. It’s believed the parties involved in the incident were known to each other.
W. Melb. hit run
■ Police are investigating after a hit run in West Melbourne on Wednesday morning last week (May 8). It is believed a cyclist was travelling along Dynon Rd about 8.55am, when the rider was hit by a truck. The male cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the truck driver fled the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
