■ The final round of Rotary’s public speaking competition for secondary school students, ‘Bayspeak,’ was held at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club. In the Senior competition (Years 10 – 12) the successful finalist was Mia Eng (Firbank Grammar School); runner-up Caitlin O’Sullivan (St Leonard’s College). The winners received cash prizes of $400 each and the runners-up received $100 each. Brighton Secondary College and Firbank Grammar School were awarded the inaugural school trophies which they will hold until the competition is held again in 2022. The prizes were presented by Robert Ward, Past President of the Rotary Club of Brighton. Turn To Page 3

ST KILDA MURDER CHARGE

■ Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following the fatal stabbing of a man in St Kilda. l A warrant was executed by police at a Craigieburn address just before 12 Noon on Friday (Nov. 5). A 23-year-old Craigieburn man was arrested and subsequently interviewed by police. He has been charged with mur-

der and was to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. The charge follows an incident on October 27 where a 24-year-old Brunswick East man was fatally injured. He was located on Jacka Boulevard just after 11pm that night and conveyed to hospital where he subsequently passed away.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police continue to appeal for anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or phone footage of the incident to come forward. Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
