PRIMARY ELECTION 2023

Keep Media on Track — Tuesday, May 16

The Media Borough Democrats are excited to present our Spring 2023 Endorsed slate for Borough Council. We have two new candidates for Borough Council - Lisa Gelman and Tray Herman - joining four-term incumbent Paul Robinson. Learn more about them on the next page!

Our candidates are committed to keeping Media on track as a strong, progressive and successful town. But you don't have to take our word for it. Media has been named "Hottest Town to Live, Work and Play", "#1 Walkable Downtown in the Philadelphia area" and "Best Place to Retire in Pennsylvania".

Also, get to know Patrick Henigan, our endorsed candidate for Magisterial District Judge.

There is a contested primary for Rose Tree Media School Board. Five Republican candidates have “cross-filed,” meaning, one party candidate can legitimately be on both the Democrat and Republican ballots by obtaining the appropriate number of signatures through the petition process. You can review the Democratic candidates on page 6.

Check out the sample ballot of endorsed candidates on Page 7. Refer to this newsletter when filling out your mail-in ballot, bring it with you to the polls, or find one of our volunteers at the polls and ask for a copy!

MEDIA DEMOCRATS PLATFORM

Fiscal Responsibility

We, as Media Democrats, have long insisted on realistic, balanced budget plans - the foundation of any vibrant and sustainable community.

We will ensure that purchases and projects have a return on investment, provide value, and that all costs are factored into decisionmaking.

Solid budget planning has made possible many of the amazing things Media has to offer.

Public Safety

We need our first responders based here in Media Borough.

We reject any attempt to decrease quality of service or prolong response times. That's what outsourcing or regionalizing these services will do. Local is better.

It is especially important that our first responders know they have our support through funding.

Responsible Growth

Because of our high walkability, vibrant downtown district, beautiful parks and welcoming community, the Borough is in high demand.

We pledge to keep Media on its successful track and believe Media can become even more vibrant, diverse and welcoming. We will continue to explore opportunities to improve Everybody’s Hometown while keeping your taxes low and the level of services high.

Balance

From stormwater management, traffic calming and strong public safety, to pollinator gardens and composting, to imagining the future of Third Street ...all of these initiatives work together to create the unique community that is Media Borough. Our candidates understand the critical importance of balancing the many needs of our community No one single issue is more important than the rest – everything is interconnected and interdependent, and everyone’s perspective matters and deserves to be heard

STRONG LEADERSHIP = STRONG COMMUNITY

Whether its the environment, parks, public safety, our library, or improved services MEDIA DEMOCRATS CONTINUE TO LEAD THE WAY.

Completed in 2016, the new library building has allowed improved and expanded library programming and services. Without critical financial support from Media Borough, the new building would not have been constructed

In 2006, Media Democrats voted to make Media the country's first Fair Trade Town. This designation is featured on one of the many wayfinding signs that have gone up around town

Media Borough has invested substantially to improve our Tot Lot, now dedicated in the name of Donald Trusty, and to establish a pollinator garden nearby. The Borough was also the biggest contributor to recent playground improvements at Media Elementary

Dedicated in 2021, Heritage Park honors Media's historical black heritage while adding more public green space for all to enjoy
