‘Please support Temple Street traders during five months of roadworks’ As works to improve Temple Street in Keynsham get under way this week, people are being urged to support local traders who are facing five months of disruption, including the removal of parking spaces. While Bath & North East Somerset Council announced last autumn that work would be starting in January, details of the impact on parking were only revealed last Thursday. In a letter to The Week In (see page 8) Chris Oliver from Keynsham Hardware in Temple Street criticises the late notice about the removal of parking spaces on both sides of the street and adds: “Keynsham, prepare for more snarl-ups and chaos through the town centre. Please support the shops down Temple Street.”

The council has notified residents and businesses that there will be no parking on both sides from No 30 to No 52 Temple Street for the duration of the works, except on an ad-hoc basis as works allow. It says that parking is available at the car parks at the Civic Temple Street on Monday before Centre, Ashton Way and Bath Hill East. the start of scheduled works Traffic will be able to pass through in both directions along Temple Street, with one lane open and temporary traffic lights in place to filter and greening.
