Editor's Message

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter on behalf of the entire editorial team. Welcome to the 1st edition of RADSAP - our annual school magazine. This magazine is a sincere attempt to record the best memories created in school during 2022-23. Our mission at Radiant Shema is to radiate inspirational human beings. Every year, many opportunities are given to children for them to learn and discover new things. All of them are tiny sparks of inspiration - motivating children and teachers to expand their horizon. However, we were not able to complete all of them. But this year, we have successfully created RADSAP, so we can look back and recall the best memories..

I want to thank all the teachers and students who have contributed towards the magazine. Also, we are thankful to our Principal Mr. Dominic Hancock for inspiring us and making this possible.

“ A SPARK OF INSPIRATION”

“RADSAP” involves Radiant Shema School’s vision/mission to have Radiant humans ( sapiens) in a dark and fragile world.

A child without education is like a bird without wings - Tibetan proverb In RSS, we believe the aim of education is to give children the opportunity to find themself and discover the immense potential that he/ she has to let out sparks of inspiration.

Every child has an intrinsic potential that when allowed to be discovered lets out a spark that not only looks beautiful but also has the capacity to light up a bigger fire of change. That is RADSAP . The human journey to find their spark and letting it shine where ever they fall.

This year has been a year of reinvention and rebooting. The COVID- 19 pandemic and its aftershocks are still felt in the class rooms in forms that are evident in student behaviour, academic performances and a diminished desire for school life itself. It has been difficult for the management and teachers to regroup but we have done our best.

A special gratitude to all my fellow teachers and teammates for their tireless efforts to be there everyday and stick together as a team to bring back the spark of education in the school. Personal tragedies, financial strains, family health were compromised as secondary for the love, care and support of students and duty to education. You truly are “ RADSAP” sparks of inspiration.

And all my dear students, you are the ultimate spark. You have made us proud and given in the motivation to do what we do. Thank you for moving out, moving through and moving in to school again. This was a beginning to many wonderful experiences we are going to make in the next year.

A special mention to the class of 2022-23 burn bright as you move into the future as all of you are very potential and you all have an ignition for great things in your future. Prove us proud and give us reason to boast about you. “ Come here when you remember us.”

To all our donors and supporters, thank you. Without your love and support we would have shut down, stopped. We ran and we continued because of your unconditional support. Finances or moral support you never tired or turned away. We pray blessings for you and promise to pay you back with our radiant lives crying out gratitude and credit.

Be the voice, not the Echo

My name is Ankita Prajapathi, and I was the sports captain at Radiant Shema School in 2022-23.Throughout my leadership tenure, I got the opportunity to organize school Programs. Organizing all sports events in school was necessary for my success. Students demonstrated good cooperation and responsibility in all the sports events conducted. As a leader, I always took charge of my leadership role. By participating in all these activities, I aimed to develop disciples. Taking the necessary steps to make changes was my way of thinking ahead. Communication with my colleagues and proper planning helped me accomplish my goals. My leadership has taught me to be punctual, bold, and polite. Despite being a leader, I have faced challenges while making decisions regarding new ideas because of group inequalities. We were unable to have our sports day this academic year. In this upcoming academic year, I wish the next SBC team all the success for the next academic year. Strive to be a great leader. I hope the sports captains of this year will identify and encourage students to participate in competitive sports. Win many medals for the school and also have a successful sports day.

My friends, I hail from UP. I'm part of Radiant Shema School from Nursery. I come from a middle class family, my father is a carpenter by profession and my mom is a home maker. Simon, my brother is 10 years old. We travel together to Radiant Shema School. Jenny ma'am asked me what motivates me to study and perform well?? I paused and saw my family, the struggles they go through to meet our needs - this motivates me to perform well. I was asked, If Education can make my life better??? My undeniable answer is YES.

Education is a puzzle, I want to solve it - Samar Shivpujan (Grade 7)

Education will allow me to become knowledgeable, skillful and provide a comfortable life for my parents in the futrure. I dream to be Surgeon. Library is my most desired place (it's fun to read books). In the following days I would want to motivate my friends to study along with me.

Apart from Academics I have been learning Guitar and Art as part of cocurriculars. Though I'm still working on my sports (raised eyebrows).

I have been a consistent performer since Grade 4.

KINDERGARTEN & PRIMARY- MODERN VILLAGE, JAKKUR

The model village in Bangalore was visited by students from ECCE to 6th standard as part of a field trip on 20th January 2023. The executive director, Manoj Kumar Shukla, told us, "This place shows how rural Karnataka residents lived 100-200 years ago. Nowadays, kids are unaware of it. Even people who are 50 years old may not have known or seen all of this before. An attempt is made in this village to explain how people back then lived, worked, and coexisted. The village provides a

glimpse into rural life, including architecture and culture, as well as traditional arts and crafts. Inside the village, there are replicas of farmers' houses, tailor shops, grocery stores, barbers, toymakers, laundrymen, shepherds, weavers, oilmen, goldsmiths, etc. On this trip, our children at Radiant Shema really experienced what the nature of a real village is all about.

HIGHSCHOOL- COORG, MYSORE & PONDICHEERY

The trips enriched our knowledge and widened our outlook. It enabled us to learn much about the places we visited. It gave us an insight into the history of our country.

Tell us about your best moments in school. One of the best moments I cherish is when I learnt about food science while cooking with our teachers and connecting it and connecting it to various cultures in history. Learning could have never been so fun.

How was your school life? What will be that one value/ learning you carry from your school?

School life was crazy, with good friends and teachers. We felt very safe and loved in school. Since I was in the first batch, we were setting the standard for the school. The school's mission inspired me. The value I take from that is to become a 'Responsible Human being'.

What are you doing now?

I am doing a Master's in Sustainable Development, and I work as a business consultant in travel and tourism. We host b2b events around the world.

How is life after your schooling?

I remember my teachers telling get ready to face the world. After School, Life wasn't easy but school prepared our minds to face it. I wanted to get a lot of exposure, and most importantly: I was learning how to get out of my comfort zone and face the world.

What do you want to achieve going further?

I am looking forward to working in the field of Sustainable Development, which focuses on people, the planet and profit. I want to make the world a better place to live. I have applied to the UN India. I am really looking forward to it. It will be a dream come true.

Few thoughts for students in school?

Hold on to your Innocence: have values for yourself and hold on to them. Out in the world, it's easy to get distract ed, get into the wrong company and lose your dream. Be true to your intentions and treat others with kindness.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to be part of RADSAP.

Restoring Radiance In Every Child

Radiant Life Hub

India is a land of 444 million children. It stands 62nd in the global MPI 2022 which means there are millions of people in poverty, unable to meet their basic needs. According to SATS 2021- 14.6% of children drop out of school before completing secondary education. Is there a connection between the two?

Yes, if a child completes schooling, the standard of living for that family improves. Education brings hope to a family living in poverty. Although we have free education, the best schools, and colleges, many children don't complete their schooling. These children end up working and even tend to get involved in anti-social activities. They miss out on enjoying their childhood.

Radiant Life Hub is an effort to retain students in school and keep their spark alive. We monitor the child's well-being and provide quality education, vocational training, and life skills to make them independent and confident about their future.

When did you join Radiant Shema? 2010, Nursery

How would you describe your family situation before joining the RL HUB ? How did it impact your life?

When I was young, I remember there were financial and health issues in the family and we struggled for basic things. It was a difficult time. I was taken into Radiant Life Hub Program. Sponsors and mentors used to constantly check on our well-being which made me feel special. I was able to continue my studies uninterrupted. I am graduating this year. Me and my family are very happy.

What motivated you to do well in school?

My mentors saw the potential in me and guided me from the start. Nobody in my family graduated from school and I wanted to be the first and make my parents proud. I kept pushing myself to do my best in academics. I was top of the class from kindergarten until now. I became the president of the school. I think one person who kept me on track was our principal Mr Dominic Hancock and I am very grateful to him.

What is one learning that you would take from Radiant Life?

I have learnt a lot of life lessons here. the most important one will be "Dream big, be confident about yourself". Nothing is too big if you believe in yourself.

What's your plan for the future?

I want to top in my SSLC board exam. Take the science stream and become a Psychiatrist.

In the end, I want to thank the management and the sponsors of RL Hub for all the guidance. Your helping hands and caring heart had helped me a lot in past 13 years. I promise you that I will achieve my goal one day and make you all proud. Thank you everyone. Love you all !!!!!

Caring Guardian, Mrs Priya

Hi Readers,

I am Priya. I joined Radiant Life Children's Home as a Kitchen staff. Through the years, I realized I had a heart for children. The management found a spark in me and gave me the role of Girl's home caretaker. It was a giant leap in my career. Now it has been three years. At RL Home, children come from various backgrounds and experiences. Nurturing them and understanding their needs was not easy. Training programs and support from the management helped me improve my skills. I love

to spend time with children and listen to their stories after school and also counsel them to handle situations. In the next few years, I want to see my children be independent bold, and full of life.

Self- Motivated Manager, Mr Badrinath

Mr. Badrinath, I have been in Radiant life for the past 23 years. It’s been a great journey from growing up in RL Home to managing the same. Radiant Life left a lasting impact on life. I wanted to invest my life and nurture children like me and restore their lives. It has been 5 years as a manager of Children's Home. RL Home is like any other family. fun times, Celebrations, Fights, pranks, tears, and lots of love. Each child is unique and needs to be nurtured accordingly. It's a roller coaster ride but at the end of the day, I see children's lives being restored and that satisfies me. In the next few years, I want to see children grow well and become responsible human beings in this society

Creative Master Chef Nicky

For the past five years, I am working as a Chef at RLCH. I feel happy and satisfied watching children enjoy their meals and be healthy. The Menu was designed for children to have balanced nutrition. Every month we track their BMI to make sure they are healthy. Cooking for children during their Birthday is fun as they choose their favorite meal and it's prepared for them. There is lots of ups and downs but every day, I challenge my skill and be the best at what I do. Working with children has changed me as a person. it has taught me to be more patient and caring. Apart from being in the kitchen, I interact with the children and guide them in academics. I want to thank the management for giving me this opportunity.
