Amidst COVID shutdowns and a challenging construction environment, 2020 welcomed South Carolina’s first Professional Women in Building organization. Led by the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association’s Executive Officer, Meg James, and a founding council of 14 women from the local building industry, the PWB of the Lowcountry promotes networking, education, and mentoring amongst its members. Membership has soared, quickly rising to over 70 members (both female and male) and representing a variety of industry-related businesses – residential builders, commercial contractors, materials suppliers, interior design and architecture firms, even financial, insurance, and market consultants. PWB has become a strong platform to support women in the business of construction, a field typically dominated by male contemporaries. PWB is accepting new members through the HHAHBA.
