KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Meaghan Barakett

Founder and President Meaghan Jarensky Barakett is the Founder and President of One Girl Inc. Under Meaghan’s leadership, One Girl created the “Women in Charge: A Forum on Women’s Leadership” conference, held annually in partnership with the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service (GSS). Meaghan is a former model, yoga and meditation instructor, miss New York USA and Mrs. New York America. She has most recently been an advocate for laws to protect victims of cyber-bullying and online impersonation. Meaghan earned a Bachelor’s degree from Pace University and a Masters in Non-Profit Leadership from Fordham University, and is a member of the Fordham University President’s Council.

Dean McPhee

Dean of Fordham University GSS Debra McPhee has more than 25 years of leadership experience in academia, professional social work practice, and the private sector. Her professional social work practice experience includes direct practice work at Fountain House and The Living at Home Project in New York City and serving as the Chief of Social Work Services for the U.S. Army in The Netherlands during the Gulf War. McPhee holds a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University and a doctorate from University of Toronto where she began her academic career. In addition to her current role, McPhee was recently appointed by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) as the Chair of the Commission on Educational Policy (COEP.)

Dailyn Santana Influencer

Dailyn Santana is a New Jersey native bipolar señorita who “Came out of her bi-polar closet” through her spoken word on social media. She is an advocate, a spoken word artist, and not only aims to eradicate stigma in society, but the self-stigma that comes with having a mental illness. She empowers those with an invisible illness through her words of reminding us all that you can live a fulfilling and joyous life no matter what.

Naomi is one of the world’s most influential feminists and the bestselling author of The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf doesn’t just comment on the world’s most pervasive problems, she aims to solve them. Dr. Wolf gives people specific ways to change the world by encouraging people to take charge of their lives and communities. Wolf is the co-Founder and CEO of tech startup DailyClout, Wolf is developing tools that allow citizens to access, share, and comment on Federal and State legislation.

Erin Chung is the founder and President of Women for Progress. In 2002, she moved to New York City where she worked as a publicist for Golf Digest magazine and later, the Miss Universe Organization. “I founded Women for Progress with the hope of bringing together women from around New Jersey to advocate for progressive causes, particularly those which may find their resources and support threatened after the 2016 election,” she says.

Felecia Pullen

Founder, President, & CEO Felecia founded and is the President & CEO of Let’s Talk SAFETY, Inc., a not-for-profit which includes SAFE in Harlem, a teen-led substance abuse prevention coalition, The PILLARS, Manhattan’s first OASAS-funded Recovery Community & Outreach Center, and The SAFETY Net, a teen-led Clubhouse in Harlem. Each offers holistic approaches for individuals in recovery, and for family members loving someone in active addiction.

Dr. Marciana Popescu Associate Professor

Dr. Marciana Popescu is an associate professor at Fordham University, Graduate School of Social Service, since 2006. Dr. Popescu’s research interests focus primarily on women’s rights, empowerment strategies for women, international interdisciplinary social work education, program evaluation, forced migration, and the role of international organizations in addressing global issues and working with governments and communities to develop rights-based policies and programs.

Vanessa Molina – Moderator

Sarah Ribner

Vanessa Molina is a recent graduate from the Fashion Institue of Technology with a Fashion Business Management major. She is the Director of Public Affairs for One Girl and is an advocate for women in business.

Sarah Ribner is the co-founder of PiperWai, the first all-natural, charcoal-based, nontoxic deodorant. She holds an MBA from Columbia, a BA from Upenn, and an aromatherapist certification from the New York Institute of Aromatic Studies. She currently resides in NYC with her pup, Chloe.

Sharifa Murdock

Co-Founder & Influencer Sharifa Murdock is a powerhouse fashion industry veteran who has worked in various fields, over the past sixteen years, from retail to corporate settings. As the co-founder of Liberty Fairs trade show, she is responsible for guiding the menswear market to new heights but continues to use her notoriety to help young women find their voice. In October of this year, she launched ENVSNfest, an annual, direct to consumer festival that truly focuses on empowering millennials in New York through panel discussions and workshops with influential women, exclusive shopping experiences and live music performances that all encourage female collaboration and creativity.

Vice President of PR CJ Frogozo is the VP of PR for Thinx and Icon and a teacher at The Class by Taryn Toomey. On and off the mat, she is committed to social and economic justice and sustainability. Prior to THINX and Icon, she headed up cause-based and advocacy public relations for V-Day, Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families, the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, ColorOfChange.org, and more. For her passionate work, in 2017, she was named America’s Most Inspiring Trainer by Reebok and Well+Good.

Elanie is Founder and Executive Director of Ignited Voices. She has worked with Planned Parenthood of New York City and the Young Women’s Initiative by Girls for Gender Equity to advocate for policy changes on the local and national level. Additionally, Elanie is a meditation guide and reiki practitioner and believes that by connecting to our higher most loving selves we can begin to create change.

Seher is a Brooklyn-based photographer, writer, and community facilitator with the heart of her work rooted in the inextricable link between art, media, culture, healing, and social change. Her highest intention is to create potent and inspiring medicine — projects, initiatives, works, spaces, movements — to spark creative dialogue and help elevate the way we exist as humans.

Sophia Roe

Multidisciplinary Influencer Sophia Roe is wildly talented yet relatable chef, wellness expert, empowerment architect, and beauty bandit whose candid videos and posts on health and mindfulness light up social media. She has a uniquely tolerant and holistic approach to the journey to wellness. Sophia is currently penning her first book, which is slated to be released in early 2020.

Brooke DeVard Ozaydinli Product Marketing Manager

Brooke DeVard Ozaydinli is a Product Marketing Manager at Instagram and creator and host of The Naked Beauty Podcast - a platform to discuss beauty, self-care and wellness with the women she admires most. Prior to Instagram, Brooke worked at Viacom overseeing digital marketing and content strategy and before that, at Ralph Lauren as a social media manager, overseeing the social strategy for their luxury brands. Brooke started her career in London as a product marketing manager for Nokia’s entertainment team, after graduating from Stanford University.
