Meadows Living: Monthly Digest VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Christina Grade, Architectural Review Committee President Hi neighbors! My name is Christina Grade, and I am honored to be this month’s volunteer spotlight. We moved here during the height of the early pandemic and have lived here for almost five years now. After decades of being relocated and stationed in California, Colorado, North Carolina, and Louisiana, we were exhausted from deployments and recreating “home” over and over again. We were looking all over the country for the best place to retire, and we chose here. Our community is beautiful, engaging, friendly, and has so many great amenities: the amazing people, trails, facilities, opportunities for unique classes, and wildlife. The air, the views of the distant and vast Rocky Mountains, and the undulating hills from our little part of colorful Colorado are just divine. My daughter is 24, a Software Engineer, engaged to be married soon, and lives in The Meadows too. My son is 13, very sociable, always in motion, and plays lacrosse year-round. My husband is a retired Marine after 31 years of active duty and now works from home for TekSystems as an Engagement Manager. Our bulldog, Archie, is two and loves to know what’s going on in the neighborhood. Our favorite local restaurant is Mt. Fuji. We are also members of New Hope church. My hobbies include various special projects, organizing, managing our household, book club with friends, solving puzzles, working at Sprouts Family Market, dancing, and serving on the ARC. I’ve been a part of the ARC for nearly three years now and have learned so much from our dedicated, smart, and experienced volunteers. With a degree in architecture from UC Berkeley and 15 years in the business, I enjoy applying my skills to create a win-win between what homeowners want and what the community needs to maintain property values, community character, and the visual experience throughout, in the context of each neighborhood’s unique feel and the Design Guidelines. The details that define that character are vital and are what make this community the best in Douglas County. As the community evolves and changes, I enjoy the duty of sustaining the character and details that continue to define our beloved environment. My fellow ARC volunteers are truly great to work with, and I feel both the ARC and our Board have all the homeowners’ collective best interests in their hearts and minds as we navigate our roles. Thank you to my awesome neighbors for your support and for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community! 1
