In this paper, I examined the twelve leadership theories presented by Northouse in the book Leadership. Most critical to nearly every leadership theory is the importance of flexibility and the willingness to receive feedback to improve skills and competencies. Without the desire to continually learn and grow, no leader can hope to be effective in the long-term. This paper marks a significant moment for me in my coursework. I was able to understand for the first time how profoundly important good leadership is to an organization.
