There’s that moment, when you’re driving toward your vacation, and your mind and body relaxes, knowing you’re heading toward adventure. It’s one of those goosebump moments when you just know something good is coming.
Our goosebump moments come when you pull into one of the M.D.’s lakeside campgrounds. They come when you throw out your fishing line and wait for the exhilarating feeling of the rod being tugged by the main character in your next big fish story. They come when you sit around your campfire and revel in the fun of the day behind you and the fun of the days yet to come.
They come as you watch the Northern Lights dance over the water. Goosebumps erupt when you step onto the platform at Kinosoo Ridge’s aerial adventure park, 60 feet in the air or, if you’re visiting in the winter, the first thrilling swish as your skis or snowboard cut through the snow.
It’s those goosebumps that make you realize that you’re in a perfect moment in time and you will remember the adventure you had in the M.D. of Bonnyville forever. So, dive into our 2025 Adventure Guide and find your next goosebump moment.

IRON HORSE TRAIL
The 300-kilometre multi-use Iron Horse Trail connects many of the area’s natural attractions. Riders can use the Iron Horse Trail to access countless kilometres of backcountry trails and cutlines that weave through the region’s more rugged terrain. Looking to explore the entire region? Hook up with the Iron Horse Trail at one of the various entry points. The Iron Horse Trail branches in three directions from Mile Zero at Abilene Junction. To the northeast is Glendon and Bonnyville, to the west is Smoky Lake and Waskatenau, and to the southeast lies St. Paul, Elk Point, and Heinsburg.
