HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR (FAIRVIEW)

Grab your spookiest, funniest, or silliest costume and join us at the Fairview Public Library...IF YOU DARE! Get ready for a fun evening of games, activities, and crafts that will have your hair standing on end! Enjoy some creepy treats and enter our costume contest! It's a night of chills and thrills on Friday, October 21 at 6:00p.m.

SPOOKY TALES WITH JO ANN DADISMAN (MANNINGTON)

For those of you looking for an evening of goosebumps and raised hair, join us for Spooky Tales with Jo Ann Dadisman at the Mannington Public Library on Monday, October 24 at 5:30 p.m. Presentation intended for a family audience with children 8 years of age and up.

FAMILY FUN HALLOWEEN AT MCPLS

It’s that spooky time of year again! Join us for a fun filled time at the library! Starting at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, the library's annual Family Fun Halloween Event will take place in and outside the Fairmont branch of the library.

You will find creepy, fun, festive games outside the library, a featured balloon artist making delightful balloons for the children, and inside you’ll find coloring and craft stations! Dare you enter the Haunted House? A local high school theatre group will have a child-friendly, fun haunted house. The annual ‘Halloweenified’ puppet show will have two different times for you to attend, at 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

All of this and more await you at the library’s annual Halloween Family Fun Event! We’ll see ‘boo’ there!

Girls Who Code (Teen)

Wednesday, October 12 & 26 | 6:00 p.m. This program works to inspire, educate, and equip 6 -12 graders with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities. Learn to code, improve your problem solving and critical thinking skills, and build a community at the Marion County Public Library Girls Who Code Club! All genders welcome!

Spice of Life Cookbook Club (Adult)

Thursday, October 6 | 4:30 p.m. Do you enjoy chatting about cooking or baking and sharing recipes? Join us at the Spice of Life Cookbook Club, a monthly discussion club that meets the first Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. It's a place to come together to chat about all things food, explore tasty cookbooks, and share recipes. All experience and interest levels are welcomed!

Each month cookbook club members will get a Take Home Spice Kit that will include a sample of the

Craftastic: Fall Yarn Wreath (Teen & Adult)

Monday, October 24 | 4:30 p.m. Join us to create a wreath with yarn. You can even dress up your wreath with the felt flowers we made last month or felt leaves.

The library will provide the supplies needed to create this craft, but feel free to bring any additional supplies that you might like to use.

Crafty Connections (Adult)

Thursday, October 13 & 27 | 3:30 p.m. Do you knit, crochet, sew, paint, sketch, embroider, cross stitch, or do any other craft? Want to meet some new people and have conversations while crafting? If that sounds great to you, bring your current project to the library!

Make sure to bring everything you think you'll need such as scissors, thread, pencils, etc. We may have some supplies available, but they will be limited.

Featured Fairmont Author: Bronwyn

Drain (Adult)

Saturday October 8 | 1:30 p.m. Join author Bronwyn Drain for a meet and greet and book signing. Mrs. Drain is the author of Dirty.

Bronwyn Drain was born in Detroit, Michigan and now resides in Fairmont, West Virginia with her mother, stepfather, five children, and two siblings. She has been writing since she was 7 years old and it's her goal to reach as many people as possible to share her stories. Drain has two more books in the works titled Disturbed and The Queens Collection.

Eleven year old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison, begins her adventure

when a dead bird is found on the doorstep of her family's mansion in the summer of 1950, thus propelling her into a mystery that involves an investigation into a man's murder where her father is the main suspect.

Shape Shifters 3D Printing (All Ages)

Thursday, October 13 | 3:00 p.m. Learn about 3D Printing while creating a Jack O' Lantern keychain!

Lakin, West Virginia, 1930: Following a suicide attempt and consigned to a segregated insane asylum, attorney James P.D. Gardner finds himself under the care of Dr. James Boozer. Testing a new talking cure for insanity, Boozer encourages his elderly patient to share his experiences as the first black attorney to practice law in 19th century West Virginia. His memorable case: defending a white man on trial for the murder of his young bride a case that the prosecution based on the testimony of a ghost.

A month after the funeral, Zona’s mother makes a chilling claim to the county prosecutor: her daughter was murdered, and she was told this by none other than Zona’s ghost...

West Virginia LibShare is a library consortium in North Central West Virginia featuring the Marion County Public Library System, Bridgeport Public Library, and the Clarksburg Harrison Public Library. A library consortium is a group of libraries who partner to combine resources, share expertise, and broaden the amount of materials available to their patrons.

Marion County Public Library wants to highlight some of the events that are being hosted by the Bridgeport Public Library and the Clarksburg Harrison Public Library to encourage patrons to attend events at the other LibShare locations.

Cynthia Dobbins Meet & Greet (All Ages)

Come paint with us in our new monthly painting club. This club is less instructional and more freestyle, but each meeting will have a theme and associated prompt to paint. This month's theme is harvest moon and features a night sky. Canvas, acrylic paint, and basic paintbrush set will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your favorite supplies from home. Storytelling Contest (Adult)

Do you have a good scary story to share? Test your storytelling skills in our storytelling contest. Winner will receive a copy of The Tell Tale Lilac Bush and Coffin Hollow by Ruth Ann Musick.
