Takeda and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) are pleased to offer Post-Doctoral Fellowships for PharmD graduates. Most of the fellow’s time will be spent at Takeda campuses in Massachusetts. The fellow will be an employee of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, MA.

Dr. Amee Mistry is Professor of Pharmacy Practice and has been with MCPHS since 2006. Dr. Mistry earned her PharmD at the Albany College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Community Practice Residency with Walgreens and MCPHS. In 2015, Dr. Mistry took over as Director of the MCPHS Biopharmaceutical Industry Fellowship program. She works directly with leaders in the area to foster growth and development of the post-graduate program, and assist fellows in securing positions within the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, she is the advisor for the student IPhO chapter at MCPHS, co-advisor for APhA-ASP, a national trainer for the APhA PharmacyBased Immunization training program and is actively involved with the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association.

The Fellowship

ABOUT MCPHS As a private institution with a history of specialization in health sciences, MCPHS offers programs that embody scholarship, professional service, and community outreach. Through MCPHS, the fellow will have the opportunity to gain teaching and research experience in an academic setting. MCPHS faculty and company program leaders mentor fellows according to their scholarly and professional interests throughout the program.

IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate for this fellowship program exhibits: • Proven leadership skills and effective behavioral skills • Eagerness to expand their clinical knowledge • Interest in keeping abreast of global drug developments • Displays critical thinking and problem solving skills • Proficiency in reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting data BENEFITS The fellow will receive a competitive stipend and benefits package, including comprehensive health and dental insurance. Attendance at one or more professional meetings, conferences, or workshops will be sponsored by the fellowship program. CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION MCPHS and Takeda will award a professional certificate upon successful completion of the fellowship program.

All submitted applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interviews will also be offered on a rolling basis and opportunities are limited. Priority will be given to those applicants who apply early, well in advance of the deadline. Rolling interviews will start mid-October with pre-screens and a mixture of interview rounds which will conclude in December at the end of the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting. The fellowship program will be conducting in-person interviews at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Las Vegas. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend. Candidates attending in person will not be able to interview without registering for both ASHP and PPS. Please refer to the ASHP & PPS website for registration details. Top candidates may be invited for interviews at the company’s location pending COVID-19 restrictions.

Three recommendation evaluation forms must be submitted no later than December 1st, 2022 via the online portal. This is NOT a letter of recommendation rather it is an online form that the recommender will receive for completion from SMApply.

The MCPHS application portal (SMApply) will open on Monday, October 3rd, 2022.

The MCPHS Biopharmaceutical Industry fellows will be selected on a nationally competitive basis. Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy at the commencement of the program.

The Global Medical Information & Review Fellowship is a one-year program designed to provide the fellows with opportunities to develop core competencies in Medical Information and Medical Review. This will be accomplished while also learning about the pharmaceutical industry by working cross-functionally within Global Medical Affairs

• Enhance medical writing expertise and knowledge through researching, creating, updating, and reviewing materials and ensuring global consistency of Medical Information & Training resources

• Attend medical conferences and participate in Medical Information responsibilities associated with these events

• Gain a better understanding of Medical and Commercial initiatives by building relationships with cross-functional colleagues through interaction with external (call center vendors) and internal US and Global teams (Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Commercial, Clinical and Pharmacovigilance) and by identifying emerging insights from customer inquiries

OBJECTIVES: Medical Information is responsible for communicating relevant, timely, accurate, and balanced information on company products to healthcare professionals and patients globally. Medical Review is responsible for performing accurate and detailed scientific/medical review of promotional and non-promotional, medical affairs-generated materials within Global and US Medical Affairs, as well as promotional materials generated by the Global and US Commercial teams, as needed. Georgios has 13 years of experience in medical affairs and in particular he has held medical information/review roles of increasing responsibility at the local, regional and global level.

MEET THE TEAM Pavun earned her PharmD from Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She has 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with over 4 years of focus in Medical Information. Pavun has worked in oncology/rare disease and in the Covid-19 landscape, directly answering unsolicited medical information queries and managing a Medical Information call center team. She is the Medical Information lead of Takeda Oncology’s US, Canada and European markets. Our Global Medical Information & Review fellows will have the opportunity to learn more about medical information processes, roles and responsibilities in handling medical information escalations and management of response documents. The fellows will interact with key functional stakeholders within each oncology product portfolio on our Global Oncology Medical Affairs teams.

GLOBAL PATIENT SAFETY EVALUATION (GPSE)

Two-year Fellowship Program

With a mission to ensure patient safety, the Global Patient Safety Evaluation (GPSE) function at Takeda is responsible for pharmacovigilance (PV) activities including the detection, assessment, management, monitoring, prevention of adverse events and continuous assessment of the benefit-risk profile for all Takeda products.

• Perform research and analyses to support risk management strategies and decisions

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of signal evaluations, cross-functional safety assessments, and ad hoc analyses

• Prepare and review safety sections of periodic safety update reports, risk management plans, clinical trial protocols, investigator brochures, informed consent forms, and reference safety information for investigational or marketed products

• Contribute to GPSE external initiatives

• Lead other pharmacovigilance related activities as instructed

OBJECTIVES: The goal of this program is to provide the fellow with relevant experiences, technical skills, and development opportunities to become an effective expert in the area of pharmacovigilance. In this role the fellow is expected to:

Excellence in Patient Safety requires mastery of medical and scientific disciplines as well as operational excellence and compliance. The purpose of Takeda’s two-year fellowship program is to provide the fellow with in-depth training in safety risk assessment, characterization, and minimization/mitigation. Fellows work closely with experts in Pharmacovigilance, specifically with PV Scientists and Global Safety Leads, as well as with other GPSE colleagues and cross-functional groups. Fellows are dedicated to PV activities for both investigational and marketed products during the course of the fellowship and have the opportunity to rotate across therapeutic areas.

The structure of this particular program at Takeda offers a degree of flexibility that allows the self-driven fellow to explore all that Takeda has to offer and let their curiosity be their guide, all while learning the basics of pharmacovigilance. The fellow will gain an understanding of pharmacovigilance practices and regulations, applying them to the management of patient safety and the evaluation of benefit-risk throughout the lifecycle of products in clinical development. The fellowship will offer multiple opportunities to meet with experts in various therapeutic areas, open doors, and provide exposure to a range of cross-functional activities with high visibility within Takeda. Global Pharmacovigilance 1 POSITION RECRUITING FOR 2023-2025 FELLOWSHIP CYCLE

Two-year Fellowship Program

The Global Medical Communications Oncology Fellowship is a two-year program designed to provide fellows with in-depth experience that will help them develop the core competencies in Medical Communications as well as understand its value across broader functions in the pharmaceutical industry. This will be accomplished through a key focus in Medical Communications, along with further opportunities to explore other areas of global medical affairs oncology. During the first year of the fellowship, the fellow will complete three rotations. The first two rotations will be in medical communications functions (eg, publications, disease and product training, and congresses, outreach, medical education). The third rotation may be within a medical communications function, or with other functions that partner with medical communications, based on the fellow’s interests, business need, and rotation availability. The second year of the fellowship will be an immersive experience with the global medical communications leads. The team is looking forward to welcoming a new fellow!

• Support implementation of medical strategy and tactical plans by contributing to creation of medical communication materials such as publications, scientific platforms, scientific narratives, MSL slide decks, training, FAQs, and congress symposia

• Train with the centers of excellence (e.g., publications, disease & product training, and congresses outreach and medical education) and the medical communication leads to obtain a strong understanding of how the different functions within medical communications work together and with partner functions to deliver on our medical goals

• Collaborate with the core medical team on the development of advisory board meetings

• Expand medical knowledge of oncology products and understand how medical communication strategy is adapted with different stages of a drug’s life cycle, extending from pipeline to marketed stage

Ruth has over 14 years of experience in oncology medical affairs, including three years as a medical communications lead. Ruth earned her PhD in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship and work as a research scientist at OurMIT. two-year fellowship in Global Medical Communications, Oncology provides fellows with the opportunity to contribute to and gain valuable experience in oncology medical communications, as well as develop an understanding of how Global Medical Affairs partners with other functions within Takeda.

Julie has over 30 years of experience in research and medical affairs, with expertise in oncology and bone biology. Julie earned her PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Bath, UK, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Washington (USA), University of New South Wales (Australia), and University of Sydney (Australia). In her current role, Julie leads the Medical Communications Leads and Training team within GMAO.

Jessica earned her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University.

The Takeda Oncology Global Medical Information & Review and Global Medical Communications post-doctoral fellowship programs are dedicated to developing and preparing highly motivated pharmacists for a career in the pharmaceutical industry. Through these programs, fellows will gain an understanding of the medical communications core competencies and functional skills, as well as expand their professional network. During their time at Takeda, fellows become valuable contributors within their functional area, as well as the broader Medical Affairs organization, bringing fresh perspectives to the team and contributing to our commitment to bring Better Health and a Brighter Future to patients worldwide.

Jessica has over 15 years of experience in scientific & medical publications, medical communications and scientific research within academia and the pharmaceutical industry. Her expertise is in infectious diseases, vaccines, and oncology. In her current role, Jessica leads the Global Medical Affairs Oncology (GMAO) medical communications department, a talented team of professionals who are responsible for the development and implementation of global medical communication strategies for Takeda Oncology medicines and pipeline programs.

As the first medical communications fellow, it is an absolute honor to carve the footsteps of this fellowship program for pharmacists interested in medical affairs. The structure of this program has allowed me to gain hands-on experience within industry, network with a variety of professionals within Takeda and neighboring companies, as well as refine my academic teaching abilities. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of the kindest, smartest, and talented people at Takeda, who advocate for me daily. With this position I can combine my passion for oncology and medical affairs to assist with deliverables in medical communications; and ultimately help our cancer patients in need. Two-year Fellowship Program

• Support Global Clinical Supply Chain activities by partnering with Takeda colleagues and external clinical supplies colleagues as a supply team member

• Develop a broad understanding on the regulatory and industry practices related to Investigational Product Management for new drugs, as well as Investigational Pharmacy

• Interact with and learn from individuals in other functional areas adjacent to Global Clinical Supply Chain (e.g., Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, etc.)

GLOBAL CLINICAL SUPPLY CHAIN (GCSC)

• Gain experience in the various roles within Global Clinical Supply Chain by rotating through Clinical Supply Operations, Clinical Planning, Business Process and Optimization, and Import/Export Management

• Understand and become familiar with the structure, roles, and responsibilities of Research and Development, the Global Development Office, and Global Clinical Supply Chain with respect to the development of new investigational products, including the associated functions within GCSC to enable the progression of Takeda’s clinical pipeline

As the complexity of treatments and medications has increased over the years, we believe that pharmacy graduates possess a strong skill set that will allow us to improve our capabilities as an organization and strengthen our team to better deliver to the patients we serve. With an exciting pipeline across a variety of therapeutic areas and treatment modalities, fellows will be able to experience the drug development process in focus areas such as oncology, neurosciences, rare disease, vaccines, gastroenterology, and plasmaderived therapies. Fellows will gain experience through their training across all major functions of the Global Clinical Supply Chain team, and be exposed to a variety of products at different stages of development. In addition, fellows will contribute to the organization’s strategic roadmap, enabling the organization to continue to be a leader in clinical supplies.

Global Clinical Supply Chain 1 POSITION RECRUITING FOR 2023-2025 FELLOWSHIP CYCLE

With a mission to deliver high-quality clinical supplies to our patients in a timely and efficient manner through strategic planning, flawless execution and effective collaboration with key stakeholders in alignment with Takeda’s R&D goals, Global Clinical Supply Chain is responsible for the oversight and end-to-end management of investigational products across all therapeutic areas used in all of Takeda’s clinical trials.

In addition to his primary responsibilities, Paul previously served as a coordinator of Pharmacy Industry Fellowships for the Genzyme/Sanofi MCPHS Fellowship Program (2009-2014) and precepted over 50 pharmacy students interested in a career in industry for a variety of schools including MCPHS, Western New England University, and others. He is currently a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for MCPHS Boston School of PaulPharmacy.completed a Post-PharmD Industry Fellowship in Clinical Research/Investigational Product Management with Genzyme/MCPHS and possesses a Doctorate in Pharmacy from MCPHS, an MBA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a degree in Biology from Providence College. Paul has also served previously as President of the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association (MPhA), the pharmacy profession’s oldest association in the Commonwealth, and as President of the MCPHS Alumni Association. Paul is a strong believer in the benefits to fellows of a rigorous training program, and the value that pharmacists can bring to organizations like Global Clinical Supply Chain. The entire team looks forward to providing fellows with the flexibility to explore this area of expertise and grow into a future leader supporting the development of new drugs to support our patients in need.

Paul Larochelle has over 15 years of experience in a variety of positions within Clinical Supplies, including roles in clinical planning, production scheduling and planning, management of secondary packaging operations, and serving as business expert for a clinical inventory management system. Paul’s prior organizations include Genzyme/Sanofi and Biogen, supporting a variety of mid and late-stage therapies for Multiple Sclerosis, neurological indications, and neuropsychiatry.

As the inaugural fellow in Global Clinical Supply Chain, I am honored to assist in shaping this program while advocating for pharmacists in clinical supply chain. Fellows in Global Clinical Supply Chain will develop the skills necessary to successfully manage investigational products at all stages of clinical development. The rotational component of this fellowship allows fellows to gain valuable experience in all of GCSC’s core areas. As a trained pharmacist, I am able to utilize my clinical knowledge daily and contribute positively to the strategic goals of GCSC. This fellowship has challenged me to take creative approaches to solving real-world problems and is preparing me for a rewarding career in the pharmaceutical industry.

As Takeda moves forward with its exciting Wave 1 and Wave 2 Assets in the R&D Pipeline, Global Clinical Supply Chain must be ready to execute efficiently and ensure predictable delivery of investigational product across all programs and protocols globally. To achieve this, we endeavor to find treatments for more complex and challenging disease states, and the technologies and modalities to do so are complex and innovative. The Global Clinical Supply Chain team is composed of experts trained in a variety of backgrounds, and we continue to add pharmacists throughout each of our functional areas due to their strong educational background and expertise that can be applied to investigational product management.
