Embracing new beginnings
Recently, our region’s five and six-year-olds were eager to begin their educational journeys as they stepped into Prep, excited to forge new friendships and explore the wonders of learning.
With oversized bags, brand-new uniforms, and tiny feet in shiny shoes, their little hands waved goodbye to parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and carers.
There has been a lot of preparation in the lead-up to this moment, all with the hope of a smooth transition into their schooling years.
So, with schools now buzzing with excitement, The News team has been preparing its annual Prep feature as a keepsake
for parents, students, family and friends to enjoy for many years.
This year, News photographers Megan Fisher and Rechelle Zammit were tasked with visiting our region’s schools and snapping up group pictures of all the new Preps.
They visited around 40 schools and every day returned with beautiful images that showed beaming smiles from Preps already embracing their journeys.
Inside these pages, you can see for yourself – to all the new Preps; The News wishes you all the best as you begin your formal education. We hope 2025 is a fantastic year for you all.

Learning for our FUTURE

Welcome to our 2025 Foundation students –Leo and Jack. At Undera Primary School, we pride ourselves in providing a calm, friendly and organised environment for students and staff. All students are offered a high-quality education with a focus on both learning and wellbeing. We offer a variety of curriculum activities including specialist classes for Art, Library, Italian, PE, Music, STEM and Wellbeing. Learning is differentiated to meet the individual needs of all students, and our small enrolment enables us to provide tailored support to everyone.
Our Wellbeing program incorporates the Respectful Relationships curriculum and lessons based on the needs

of students. We have the support of a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MWHL), a school chaplain and a speech therapist. We are currently implementing School-Wide Positive Behaviour System (SWPBS) to support our wellbeing program.
The School Plus grant enables us to provide free education for all students including the cost of excursions, camps, stationery and one-to-one iPads and laptops. All classrooms have interactive, touch screens to support engaging learning. We have amazing playground facilities, including our fitness track, bikes and pedal karts.
Our school works closely with Undera Kindergarten to offer students a smooth transition from preschool to school.

For a tour of Undera Primary School and enrolment information, please contact Principal, Ms. Robyn Bell, on (03) 5826 0211 or undera.ps@education.vic.gov.au
