Equestrian showcase a first at Elmore For the first time at Elmore Field Days, an equestrian showcase will delight visitors and it will all take place at the newly updated Elmore Equestrian Park. The daily Equestrian Showcase will be held on the grassed arena, featuring events, demonstrations and pony rides. Since the official opening of the indoor arena and stables last year, Elmore Equestrian Park has expanded its equestrian capabilities and established itself as a modern and userfriendly environment ideal for premier equine events. Elmore Field Days public relations officer John Giffin said the interest in equestrian activities had grown since the upgrade, with the events calendar having triple the number of bookings. “It’s full every weekend — that’s why we decided to hold the equestrian showcase this year,” Mr Giffin said. “Next year, the park is also booked out a fair bit already.” The $1.2 million project has not
only boosted interest in equestrian events in the area, but has also boosted the local economy. “It’s helped the local community — all the local clubs can come here now and don’t have to travel to further places, like Werribee, and it’s helped the towns because more people are coming through.” Mr Giffin said some riders had even travelled from as far as NSW and South Australia for various events held at the Elmore site, including polocrosse and dressage. The Equestrian Showcase is set to delight young and old. “HorseHand will be doing some entertainment and education sessions such as live communication and training demonstrations,” Mr Giffin said. Feedback about the park has been positive so far with everyone impressed by the facilities, which include an architectural curved roof and portable stalls to house 100 horses. “Everyone who has used it loves it. They are quite surprised by the quality of facilities we have here, and once they come here we get comments that
they didn’t know the facility was here and they’ll definitely be coming back,” Mr Giffin said. Upgrades to Elmore Equestrian Park have been progressive, with the renovations starting since 2007 when all the dressage arenas were built. “Every year there’d be something new … whether it’s more stable complexes or arenas,” Mr Giffin said.
The Equestrian Showcase events will take place on the grassed arena over all three days. Access the arena via Gate 4 on 4th Avenue and Avonmore Drive. Equine demonstrations, events and pony rides will delight patrons of Elmore Field Days.
