Supes to decide on Solano360 master developer Staff schedules update on wildfire recovery efforts Todd R. Hansen

FAIRFIELD — Solano County supervisors will receive an update on the Solano360 project and consider whether to enter into exclusive negotiations with Industrial Realty Group/Jones Land LaSalle as the master developer. The board meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the first-floor chamber of the government center, 675 Texas St., in Fairfield. The Solano360 Implementation Committee unanimously endorsed Industrial Realty Group/ Jones Land LaSalle after a presentation on its vision for reinventing the county fairgrounds in Vallejo into a destination and entertainment hub. It includes moving the county fair footprint at the site, but also includes the development of new facilities for the fair’s use. The group is also closely linked to 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom, a

high priority for the committee, and especially the members who represent Vallejo. The project does include residential elements, what the committee, at least, has come to accept as a necessary revenue piece to make the rest of the commercial and entertainment elements work. The Board of Supervisors also is scheduled to receive an update on the LNU Lightning Complex Fire recovery efforts. The 17th annual Counties Care Holiday Food Fight gauntlet is also expected to be thrown down at the board dais. The event is a friendly challenge with Contra Costa County, funds from which go to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
Trump emerges to boast of new Covid vaccine Pressure builds for him to concede to Biden Tribune Content Agency WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Friday took credit for a promising coronavirus vaccine while ignoring the escalating death toll as the pandemic tears through the country faster than ever before. The president spoke in the White House Rose Garden just after media outlets called the election results in the final two states – Georgia for President-elect Joe Biden and North Carolina for Trump – bringing the projected Electoral College vote to 306-232 for Biden. Four years ago, Trump was on the winning side of a similar Electoral College margin. The president, who with his allies has continued to allege vote fraud, did not address the election outcome or take questions from reporters. Instead he focused on the potential vaccine, which, if approved for distribution, could be

FAIRFIELD — Thanksgiving dinner came early for some this year as the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Evangelistic Compassion Ministry provided a drive-thru supper Saturday. The church ministry has provided a Thanksgiving dinner for hundreds of homeless and low-income families for more than 45 years. Covid-19 has thrown a wrench in the plans of many families this year, but the church managed to roll with the changes. “With Covid we had to get creative, said Tony Adams, the evangelism/mission division director for the church. “People will get hot food See Dinner, Page A9

The boards were pulled at the Los Rios Check Dam and the earthen dam at Road 106A was broken this week, allowing salmon to return to Putah Creek.
WINTERS — The boards were pulled at the Los Rios Check Dam and the earthen dam at the Road 106A crossing was broken down this week, allowing salmon to return to Putah Creek. Officials are eager to see this year’s spawn because it is possible that those born during the
1,700-fish run in 2017 could be returning. The early signs are good, but Rich Marovich cautioned the official count will not be completed until January. Marovich, streamkeeper for the Solano County Water Agency and Lower Putah Creek Coordinating Committee, said more than 20 fish were seen See Salmon, Page A9
Anchovy diet may be causing juvenile mortality Todd R. Hansen thansen@dailyrepublic.net
WINTERS — On a day the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported a salmon population increase in
Clear Creek off the Sacramento River near Redding, and touted an improved trout spawning route for endangered Lahontan cutthroat trout, it also reported juvenile
Chinook salmon were dying in the Central Valley hatcheries. Although the exact cause, and the greater effect in the rivers, have not been labeled, scientists believe the unusual
mortality may be due to adult salmon feeding on anchovies over the past couple of years. “In early 2020, staff at state and federal salmon See Anchovy, Page A9
