Apple Hill Growers will be opening their farm stands and bake shops this holiday weekend. old Country Artists Gallery, an award-winning gallery in Placerville, presents its newest artist — photographer Michael Maloney. “I invite you to see nature through my eyes,” said Maloney. “To experience the beauty I see in this wonderful, but fragile world we live in. I hope my images draw you in emotionally and move you in some way.” Maloney’s career as a photographer has spanned several decades, from his days of film and darkrooms to the present use of digital cameras and photo processing. Landscape photography was his first passion. “I relied on intuition and sensitivity and staying in the moment — my eyes and heart wide open to all possibilities,”
In the collaborative spirit of the El Dorado County wine community, winemakers from Holly’s Hill Vineyards, C.G. Di Arie Vineyard and Winery and Madroña Vineyards are donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of a rare bottling they shared in making to the Caldor Fire Fund at the El Dorado Community Foundation. The wine, under the Collaboration label, is a 2018 vintage made from the region’s highly touted Rhône varietals, and is a blend of 34% mourvedre, 33% grenache and 33% syrah.
