Simpson, was founded in 1959 by Bill Simpson as Simpson Drag Chutes with a clear mission, develop and manufacture high-end safety products. In 1958 he broke both arms in a racing accident. Simpson later said,
"Until then, I was like most drivers. The only time I thought about safety was after I got hurt. This time I was hurt enough to think about it a lot ”
It was
therefore following that accident that he decided to start working in the development of safety in motorsport.

The peak is secured in three places to reduce movement and can be removed if not needed.
