Thank you for joining us for yet another Haunted Halloween Event for fun and fellowship benefiting Scare Away Cancer and it’s efforts to lift the financial burdens of local families navigating a cancer diagnosis. It’s because of you that we can continue to serve the patients and families that reach out to us for help. Your being here tonight is essential to impacting the lives of those we serve by:

On-going inflation, and other challenges this past year have taken a toll on everyone, non-profits alike. But through the support of our generous sponsors and regular donations from supporters, we were able to distribute $192,000 to 75 families, with an additional $40,000 to quarterly recipients and adopt-a-families. Additionally, we provided all charitable care for patients at the Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center Inner Beauty Salon.

Alexis Longshore
Alexis is 15 years old and attends Hastings High School. She was diagnosed in November, 2024 with Rhabdomyosarcoma with the primary site being her cheek. Lexi did chemotherapy at Children’s in Omaha and completed dozens of rounds of specialized radiation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is such a positive young lady with a sweet disposition and has faced this year’s ongoing battle with bravery and strength beyond her years. You will hear more about Alexis and her family throughout the evening.

7-year-old with Ewings Sarcoma from Shenandoah, IA
Kase Purdue
Kase Perdue, 9, was diagnosed with glioblastoma in August 2024 and underwent brain tumor surgery later that month. His family temporarily relocated from Cambridge to Omaha for six weeks of intensive radiation. Genetic testing also revealed he has Li-Fraumeni syndrome, increasing his risk for future cancers. Kase has faced ongoing challenges with low white blood cell counts, delaying trial treatments and chemotherapy, and requiring frequent transfusions and medications. His family regularly travels to Omaha for care, adding financial strain. Kase lives with his parents, Jack and Paige, and younger sister, Whitney.
