Design Rationale
Bateau Bay Hair Studio has been a trusted local business for almost 30 years, operating from the same location and building a loyal client base across the surrounding areas. Retaining the original name was a deliberate decision, allowing the brand to carry forward the perception of longevity and trust established since 1995.
Given the studio’s close proximity to the ocean, the new logo was designed to embody a coastal luxe aesthetic—modern, elegant, and versatile enough to serve as the foundation for a full brand refresh.
The palm tree was incorporated as a central motif, not only for its timeless visual appeal but also for its strong connection to the coastal setting. Complementing this, stylised wave elements have been carefully designed to mimic the flowing strands of hair. This subtle integration ensures the logo reflects the essence of the hairdressing service without resorting to clichéd symbols such as scissors or combs.
The result is a sophisticated, contemporary logo that celebrates both the heritage and location of the studio, while providing a strong visual identity to support its evolution into the future.
