interior design is the sculptural medium that unites my aesthetic fascination with form and the precision of programmatic functionality. my purpose is to create designs that offer opportunities for positive engagement, elevating commonplace experiences into cherished memories. my true passion lies in fostering a connection between strangers and their built environments. each project is a heartfelt tribute to the individuals who inhabit the spaces.

i am eager to nurture my love for design of all mediums, ever expanding the possibilities to be of service by promoting meaningful relationships between our internal and external landscapes.

the unconventional thresholds and design of enigma are inspired by the brutalist subway architecture in tokyo. this experiential yakiniku-style* restaurant is characterized by a nuanced combination of small-scale materials and layered lighting, which cast flickering shadows reminiscent of a burner’s flame.

the intimate seating at enigma is designed to emphasize the significance of conversation, creating a solemn yet hedonistic atmosphere. this establishment culturally enriches celebration pointe and addresses the need for private dining through four unique seating configurations.

*yakiniku is a traditional japanese cooking style where guests grill their own food at the table.

challenge: high traffic egress.

“closed circuit”

servers navigate through a “closed circuit” egress system, executing a secondary circular movement within each dining area. this strategic approach allows for seamless table rounds within the closed circuit process while keeping the back tunnel clear for guests.

staff movement

primary egress passes both point of sales and operates in circular “closed circuit”. this eliminates the need for servers to use the back tunnel for guests.

guest movement

reception is directly adjeacent to dining room for immidiete seating. the bar seating accomodates waiting time. the back egress acts as an experiential transition from the main dining room to access the bar and water closets.

sight, sound, touch

multisensory design unfolds in the materiality of the tunnel entrance and reception.

strolling along the recessed grated path generates echoes along the concrete walls.

this synergistic restaurant experience layers low, warm light to invite intimate conversation. the incandescent lighting transforms these traditionally cold tunnels into warm spaces, providing an intriguing journey through the restaurant. the metalic materiality flickers, casting unpredictable shadows reminiscent of a burner’s flame.

the theme of subway architecture is preserved in the implied form of tunnels.

the tunneled architecture is subtly incorporated in the dining rooms, seen in the booth seating or the back-lit bar. the mirrored ceiling in the bar completes the half circle, simultaneously imparting a sense of depth and layering akin to multi-story subway stations.

the juxtaposition of industrial corten steel, concrete, and scratched metals with intimate lighting creates an enigmatic ambiance

a space that welcomes all people, conversations, and appetites.

the tunneled architecture is complimented by the circular subtraction that forms the backlit bar. the mirrored ceiling completes the circular illusion, further abstracting the perception of looking down a subway tunnel.

the arrangement of benches is inspired by tatami style seating, a traditional form of japanese seating low to the ground. these height-adjusted seating formations encourage intimate conversation and feelings of stability.

vessel is a zero-waste convenience store that makes bulk shopping accessible to urban populations. pantry staples such as oils, grains, nuts, and flour, as well as cleaning supplies like soap and detergent, are sold by weight. products featuring reusable or compostable packaging are also sold here.

The eliptical flooring changes invite playful movemnt through the aisles while still providing staff visibility, challenging the standardized orthaganol gondolas found in convenience stores. The monochromatic plaster walls and natural stone compliment the architectural form and simplicity of the endorsed products.

vessel collaborates with local pottery artisans who showcase their ceramics, enticing shoppers to display bulk goods as an accessory to their home.

vessel combats this business structure by providing an alternative, sustainable market that offers bulk shopping options and features brands with reusable or decomposable packaging. the elliptical, organic design takes inspiration from the work of local pottery artisans, whose ceramics entice shoppers to buy beautiful vessels for displaying their bulk goods.

vessel not only supports the local artist community but also serves as a hotspot for sustainability. it challenges conventional expectations of convenience stores by providing a safe and hospitable interior that caters to quick shopping needs or serves as a rest stop for travelers.

dispensers

The Aggressive Good (TAG) invented zero waste dispensers that eliminate the need to weigh bulk goods when purchasing.

the customer simply taps the front of the dispenser with a credit card to activate the system and then presses a button to fill their container of choice.

these dispensers calculate the price and charge the card instantly, making bulk good shopping as fast as typical grocery stores.

our design of the uf academic initiative for artificial intelligence [ai squared] centers around the cosmic pattern of the universe: the golden ratio.

the universality of artificial intelligence’s arithmetic computation is reflected in the formation of the fibonacci spiral across all scales of the universe. our plan revolves around the golden ratio staircase, with its fractal nature informing the orthogonal programmatic divisions of the building.

just as ai easily recognizes patterns, our design facilitates comfortable and intuitive use of space, ultimately making the ai center approachable and welcoming to all.
