1The Stuart Island Retreat was located in the San Juan Islands northwest of Seattle Washington. The project was called to design a small cabin that was integrated into a steep slope as well as being right on the water. The challenge was to create a cabin that was connected to nature and have bio-climatic design in it.

Conceptual Design
For the Stuart Island Retreat, I proposed a design that would resemble nature and be integrated with nature. The concept was the growth of a tree. This was achieved by designing the columns of the structure to resemble a tree’s growth and sprouting of limbs. As well, I proposed a linear path of circulation that has all other spaces branching off of it such as the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

2Located in Oak Park, Chicago the project called for the design of a library that had different reading rooms for adults, young adults, and children. Secondly, the library needed a small event space that the public could use during the night or day. The challenge for the project was to create a place for the community to come and gather as well as relate the building back to the history of the area.

Located in Manhattan Kansas, the project required the design of an aquatic center that held an olympic size swimming pool, a diving well, and a free swim pool. The challenge was creating a facility that could be used for the community as well as the university.

Located in the suburbs of St. Louis, this project required one to rethink urban sprawl and develop design ideas to densify suburbia while keeping the beloved aspects of suburbia. This was achieved by additional dwelling units (ADU’s) being incorporated into the suburbs.
