to be included in a number of our favourite magazines, featured in the Sydney Design Guide as well as several blogs.” me and amber products are widely stocked in shops right around Australia, including top3 by design and their online shop. “Our greeting cards were the first product in our range. Funnily enough, despite expanding our range quite a lot since then (linen tea towels, cushions, table runners, bean bags, wall art), greeting cards are still the core of our business.” When asked what they love about their products and how they manage to come up with new and fresh designs, the answer is simple for these two lovely creatives. “We get real pleasure out of creating things that people actually want to 6

buy for a gift, or put in their home,” says Karen. “We really love that a product is tactile, can reflect personality, and has the ability to change a space and create a mood.” Conscious of the environment and avid supporters of local business and industry, everything is produced locally. Utilising recycled papers and linen, which is durable and produced using less water than cotton, does prove more expensive, but it fits naturally with their ethos. A second element of me and amber is graphic design services. “Sometimes people who purchased our products would get in touch about graphic design and invitation work. We love how our product range has opened us up to the public in a way that we never would have been able to otherwise. Word of mouth has also got us a lot of our design work, including creating
