C a lv e r b e lie v e d that the E d U S p a id the S c ie n c e U n d e rg ra d u a te S o ­ c ie ty to p a rtic ip a te in th e ir F ro s h .

H o w e v e r , the S U S a g re e d to take a ll E d u c a tio n lea d e rs a n d p a rtic i­ p a n ts f o r free. “ H a d E d U S d o n a te d $ 8 ,0 0 0 to S c ie n c e F ro s h ,” sa id P a t­ e rs o n , “ E d u c a tio n w o u ld h a v e b e e n the title s p o n s o r o f S c ie n c e F ro s h , s o m e th in g u n re c o g n iz e d b y [th e ] A U S .”

F o r a n y fa c u lty c o u n c il, $ 8 ,0 0 0 is a lo t o f m o n e y to lo se . H o w e v e r , fo r a fa c u lty w h o o p era te s o n a y e a r­ ly b u d g e t o f a p p ro x im a te ly $ 3 0 ,0 0 0 , “ [It ] w o u ld b e a s ig n ific a n t lo s s ,” a c c o rd in g to P a terso n .

H o w e v e r , P lu m m e r in d ica te d th at the A U S ’s fin an ce s w e re in o rd e r a n d w o u ld n o lo n g e r be an issue. “ A t th e e n d o f m y te rm as an A U S e x e c u tiv e last ye a r, it w a s m y im p re s s io n th at the A U S ’ fin a n c ia l situ a tio n h a d b e e n s o lid ifie d a n d n o rm a liz e d a fte r a tu rb u le n t y e a r o f fin a n c ia l re fo rm ,” P lu m m e r said.

M o n e ta ry d isp u te s a sid e , there are c o n c e rn s that the stu d e n ts’ in ­ terests w e re n o t b e in g re p re se n te d .

From Sept. 6 to 9, our cultural metropolis captivated the industry and the public alike at the 21st edition o f Montreal Fashion Week. Bonsecours Market, in the hub o f the Old Port, was the place to be seen and heard by buyers, bloggers, journalists, fashionistas, and fans, as all gathered to witness the Spring/Summer 2012 collections o f both new and veteran local designers. With fashion shows, cocktail receptions, and off-site events, it was a jam-packed week o f things to do and people to see. Although much o f Fashion Week is about buying and selling, the events have recently come to attract more attention worldwide, as Montreal creeps up the fashion ladder and becomes more visible to competitor fashion cities. Surrounded by fashion-loving attendees and Spring/Summer 2012 looks, Montreal presented a variety o f fu n and fresh styles to look forw ard to after the dreaded winter months.
