Readiness & Deployment Support Program Pre-Deployment:

Pre-Deployment Briefs (Single/Married) The purpose of the pre-deployment brief is to prepare the individual Marine and their family members for the upcoming deployment. This brief provides information and resources for the service member or family member to use before, during, and after the deployment. Parents and Children Pre-Deployment Brief This workshop utilizes an optional guest speaker, puppet show, and age-appropriate activities for children ages 5 and older to normalize an upcoming deployment. The adult component combines discussion and demonstrations to highlight ways parents can support their child(ren) during a deployment. During Deployment Workshops:

Mid-Deployment: Self-Care Workshop This workshop promotes deployment success through self-care for the spouse or significant other at home during mid-deployment. It includes information about stress management, staying connected, dealing with emotional ups and downs, and resources. You will even create your own bath salts to take home! This is a great opportunity for you to look at your level of self-care, to get new ideas, and/or gain the motivation to better care for yourself. Also, take this opportunity to network with other Marine Corps spouses and significant others. Mid-Deployment Success This workshop is designed to promote deployment success for you during deployment and includes fun things to do, goal setting and available resources. Join us as you receive tips on making this deployment work for you. Managing Your Money This class will provide you with some great tips on how you can start rebuilding your bank account today! You will have a fun time interacting with one another while learning how to take control of your finances. The topics covered in this class include: setting financial goals, developing a spending plan, and reducing debt. Tips for Thriving During Deployment Many military spouses going through deployments all say the same thing. “I never seem to have enough time to do anything, or I don’t know what to do. This class will give you great tips on how to not only survive a deployment, but how to thrive through it. Come meet other spouses who understand what you are going through, and take away tidbits to turn the deployment into an opportunity for personal growth!

Mid-Deployment: Kids and Deployment This workshop is designed to promote deployment success for kids, including reactions to deployment, ways to help, and sources of help. This is a great opportunity for children to identify, learn and improve various ways of communication while developing a deeper understanding of food, good nutrition, and the importance of good fitness. As well, they will discover the core components of positive character. This is a kids only workshop for ages 5-12. During Deployment Events:

Murder Mystery Dinner Spouses who are in the midst of a deployment, we know exactly how to re-energize you during this challenging time. This will be an interactive experience filled with excitement, food, mystery, and murder. The best part is that you get to share it with spouses going through the same thing as you. So get ready to become someone else for the night! Each person attending will receive a character with background and costume information in advance. You don’t need to spend money on your costume either. Simply put together something from your closet that matches your character description, and join us for an evening of absolute fun! Everyone is a suspect, but only one person is the murderer. Be there to find out who did it! Bunco Night Spouses in the midst of a deployment or living the unique military lifestyle are invited to learn and play BUNCO with other spouses. This is a night of food and fun as with other spouses who are going through the same thing. Light refreshments will be served. Return and Reunion:

Return and Reunion: Spouses and Significant Others This workshop focuses on discussing the anticipation of homecoming, expectations, and concerns of spouses and significant others. The ideal time to discuss homecoming is approximately a month to two weeks before a unit returns from deployment. This allows enough time for communication to occur and plans to be made before the Marine returns. Return and Reunion: Parents and Kids This workshop includes a puppet show and age appropriate activities for children age 5 and older to prepare for the upcoming return, reunion, and reintegration with their Marine parent. The adult component combines discussion and demonstrations to highlight ways parents can support their child during return, reunion, and reintegration. This workshop is for both parents and kids. Reintegration: Strong Marine Couples Reintegration is the return to unity after deployment. This educational program is ideally offered 45 to 60 days post-deployment. It provides a forum for couples to assess their recent deployment experience in an effort to further strengthen their relationship. This educational workshop addresses the effect of reintegration on a relationship, allows couples to assess the level of relationship satisfaction, and provides communication tools and resources for couples to use to strengthen their relationship.

Return and Reunion for Parents and Extended Family Parents and extended family members (including close friends) consistently play a significant support role in the lives of most Marines, whether they are single or married. This program answers questions about what to expect at homecoming, provides suggestions on celebrating homecoming with their Marine, and addresses concerns about the effects that serving in a combat zone might have on their Marine.
