What Makes a McDermott?

Our cue construction process includes over 150 separate procedures. All forearms, handles and sleeves are handcrafted from the finest materials and most exotic woods from around the world. Our shafts are built with the finest Kiln-dried, hand-selected North American Hard Rock maple and are turned 11 times for stability. McDermott cues come with a lifetime warranty against warpage and defects.

The Wood

McDermott hand selects only the finest woods from around the globe. The wood is aged for 18 to 24 months by alternately storing and machining each piece three times. This allows the perfect amount of moisture to escape, ensuring absolute straightness.

The Joint

McDermott’s signature 3/8”-10 wood-to-wood and patented Quick Release (QR) joints provide consistent surface contact throughout the cue, delivering maximum feel and the most solid hit in the industry.

The Finish

McDermott cues are hand-stained with our exclusive stain made from the finest pigments in the world. Superior to the synthetic stains generally used in the industry, it’s notable for uniform saturation of the wood and color consistency. Five coats of high-luster urethane protect the cue and enhance the color.

The Wrap Premium Leather Our premium leather wraps offer the durability, consistency and comfort that can only be found in leather.

Genuine Irish Linen Our genuine imported Irish linen wrap is tightly wound, double-pressed and polished for a perfect fit and smooth feel. The Irish linen absorbs hand moisture to ensure a comfortable grip.

No-Wrap Handle For players that prefer a cue without a wrap, we have designed many no-wrap models. We can also customize wrapped models as a no-wrap cue.

Tri-Core Butt Construction Forearm

The forearm 1 is adorned with intricate inlays and rings using the finest materials and exotic woods from around the world. All of McDermottâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s inlays and rings are precision milled to within .001â&#x20AC;?. Many McDermott cues are customizable with over 30 premium paint and stain choices. The cues are then finished with an ultraviolet electrostatic 5-coat urethane finish.

Handle

The Tri-Core butt is constructed using three separate pieces of wood that are hand-glued and screwed to promote straightness over the life of the cue. The tenon 2 and pin 3 technology provides optimal balance for the butt of the cue. A double-pressed and sealed Irish linen or premium leather wrap 5 is applied over the handle 4 to provide incredible comfort and moisture control.

Sleeve

The sleeve 7 slides over the handle tenon 6 to complete the Tri-Core butt construction. It is glued and secured by the butt plate and interchangeable weight bolt system 8 before being adorned with intricate inlays and rings to complement the design of the forearm. All McDermott cues are capped with a clover-embossed rubber bumper 10 to protect the butt plate 9 .

Shaft Comparison i-Pro Starting at $359 The i-Pro's Octadic Laminated Shaft Construction, combined with its Triple-Layer Carbon Fiber Core, is the most radial consistent shaft we've ever made. This will provide more predictable results, taking your game to a new level. The unique design of this shaft maximizes energy transfer, allowing you to generate a higher spin rate while hitting closer to center cue ball.

Hybrid i-Pro taper // 12.5mm tip

Navigator Alpha Tip (Medium) Navigator Alpha tips feature multiple layers of Japanese pigskin leather that are bonded, then compressed for 3 minutes. This process results in a tip that mushrooms less and provides a firm and crisp hit. The base layers have a different density, allowing them to act like a bumper. This reduces pressure on the tip and helps protect the ferrule. Carbon Fiber Placement in i-Pro:

i-3 Shaft Starting at $259 The i-3 is designed for incredible spin and finesse. It is engineered for highly-skilled players who have great control of their stroke mechanics and are looking for more cue ball action.

i-1 Big Boy Break/Jump Shaft Starting at $259 The i-1 Big Boy is the most powerful shaft in the i-Shaft series. Its special taper, wider shaft diameter and Triple-Layer Carbon Fiber core make it the ideal choice for breaking and jumping with extreme control.

The Navigator Break Impact is a hybrid phenolic break tip. Most phenolic tips are designed to generate power, but at the cost of cue ball control. The Break Impact tip’s hybrid construction provides tremendous cue ball control without sacrificing power. This makes it ideal for breaking and jump shots.

They are most adaptable tips in the Navigator line, allowing players to shape and mold the tip over time to fit their play style.

Each Everest® laminated tip is individually tested for consistency, hardness and quality. It shapes like a hard tip, hits like a medium, but has the control of a soft tip. Everest® tips have 10 layers that include a red warning layer to indicate when it needs replacement.

Stinger Break/Jump Shaft Starting at $115

Stinger technology takes the hit energy to the center of the shaft, regardless of where you hit the tip. Our tip can be shaped flatter than a typical break cue’s tip. The flatter profile causes the Stinger tip to have a huge “sweet spot.” You can mishit and still get the result you intended.

Patented Stinger Phenolic Tip/Ferrule Technology

The tip features a “stinger” stem that projects downward through a hole in the center of the ferrule. On impact, the shock of the hit goes to the center of the tip and down the stinger stem, transmitting the impact directly to the center of the shaft. This results in a very efficient, precise hit.

McDermott Lifetime Maintenance Plan (LMP)

McDermott’s Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original purchaser/ owner of the cue and must be purchased from an authorized McDermott dealer. McDermott Cue warrants its pool cues to be free of defects in material and workmanship, including warpage, for as long as the product is owned by the original purchaser/owner. McDermott does not warrant its product against: • normal wear and tear including tip, finish, and wrap • misuse, abuse or mishandling • modification or improper maintenance performed by third parties • damage caused by exposure to extreme temperature or humidity All warranty claims must include the complete cue and are subject to evaluation at our facility prior to approval. Products that do not qualify for the McDermott Lifetime Warranty can be serviced by McDermott for a fee. To obtain warranty service on a McDermott product, return the product to an authorized McDermott dealer or directly to McDermott along with a copy of your original sales receipt.
