Lifestyle Insights, Networking, Knowledge, and Skills (L.I.N.K.S.) Training

The primary goal of the UPFRP is to empower Marines and family members, providing them the opportunities to not just survive but to thrive while taking on the challenges of the military lifestyle The program is supported by the Readiness Coordinator who implement the Commander's family readiness vision, manage the tenants of the UPFRP, and assist unity Marines, Sailors and families maintain a constant state of family readiness

Readiness Support Training

L I N K S is an acronym that stands for Lifestyle Insights, Networking, Knowledge, and Skills It is an interactive acculturation program to Marine Corps life and the local installation Participants lean about Corps history, rank, installation resources, services and benefits, military pay, separation and deployment, crossroad options, communication styles, investing in the community and Marine Corp traditions

Participants finish Lifeskills trainings better equipped to tackle challenges with increased self awareness and confidence. Through increased insight, participants are more likely to lend a hand to others in need, creating a mentorship atmosphere and stronger relationships.

Lifeskills Training

The Unit, Personal, and Family Readiness Program (UPFRP) is a unit centric program, guided by the Family Readiness Command Team that reinforces the relationship between the unit and the services relevant to the unit, the unit members, and their families

Lifeskills Training and Education programs are a comprehensive collection of personal and professional skill building classes that promote positive adjustments and improved individual and family functioning Lifeskills training provides Marines and family members with practical skills for successful interactions and positive outcomes at work, home, and in life

Readiness Support is a collection of trainings/briefs designed to educate and prepare military personnel and their families to cope with the changes and challenges of all types of military lifestyle challenges Designed specifically for Marines, families and extended family members, these programs increase awareness of relevant readiness issues, while offering individual creative solutions to build a healthier family and ensure all are aware of the vast resources available to them as Marine Corps families.

Family Readiness Command Team Training

Family Readiness Coordinator Training

The DRC is the primary trainer for the following trainings at the Recruiting Station level.

The Family Readiness Command Team provides primary support for Marines and family members in regards to family readiness. Command Team Training ensures that the entire Command Team understands the Commanding Officer’s intent for the Unit Personal Family Readiness Program. By going through this training, each member of the Command Team will know their responsibilities in the program.

DRC/URCs will discover their roles and responsibilities within the Unit Personal Family Readiness Program They will receive the tools to perform their duties effectively, while remaining in compliance with Marine Corps Orders.

Family Readiness trainings fulfill the requirement of the Command Team membersas directed by MCO 1754.9B.

This training is a requirement for any family member who wants to be (or already has been) appointed to a volunteer position as a Family Readiness Assistant or Command Team Advisor, per MCO 1754 9B. Family Readiness Volunteer Training provides volunteers with foundational tools to ensure they are able to perform at optimal levels in the Unit Personal and Family Readiness Programs.

OPSEC/PII Training This interactive training will give you a better understanding of what Operational Security (OPSEC) is am how it relates to you as a military family member or unit volunteer. Personally Identifiable Information (PII) deals with protecting your personal information, as well as any information you may have access to. Volunteer Ready Volunteer Ready is our innovative training curriculum giving volunteers relevant, necessary tools for a successful volunteer career. Volunteers obtain required skill-sets need for today’s competitive job market while reaping the fulfilling reward of making a difference in their local community Family Readiness Program 4

The 7 Habits program, based on the best selling business book of all time, is the most dynamic training for personal and professional effectiveness ever developed This experience will help you define your values and your goals, unleash your potential, and achieve personal and interpersonal effectiveness from the inside out. This can be modified to fit the needs of your unity.

4 Lenses / 4 Lenses for Couples / Leadership Through the Lenses In this course, participants identify and explore personality types and learn how to successfully interact with others both personally and professionally. Course materials can be tailored to specific audiences, such as unit leaders and couples.

CHARACTER COUNTS!

Enabling kids to make better choices, CHARACTER COUNTS! provides a framework for ethical living based on basic values, known as the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship

This workshop will educate Marines and their families on the basics of a Family Care Plan It will outline the significance of a Family Care Plan, provide information on how to complete the required NAVMAC form and why it is important to keep it current.

Lifeskills

Communication styles impact all aspects of life Whether in our personal or professional lives, effective communication skills support growth and foster healthy relationships "Say What?" is a workshop that is designed to explore varying means, concepts, and styles of communication. Evidence informed activities are used to advance each participant's communications capabilities, positively impacting and supporting healthy relationships through improved communication techniques.

Bridging the Generation Gap

In this interactive workshop, participants learn the secret to love that lasts Based on the #1 New York Times Best Seller, "The Five Love Languages", by Dr Gary Chapman Things I wish I'd Known Before I Got Married This class is ideal for couples in committed relationships, whether engaged or married. Participants will gain insightful knowledge through covered topics, such as: being in love is not enough for a successful marriage, "like mother, like daughter" and "like father, like son" is not a myth, apologizing is a sign of strength, and a plan for money is needed.

The focus of this skills-based workshop is on increasing effective communication between couples Modules include how to build strong relationships, men and women's differing views points, keeping the fun in your relationship, expressing concerns constructively and examining hidden issues and expectations This course is often co facilitated with the Chaplain The Five Love Languages What if you could say or do just the right thing guaranteed to make your special someone feel loved? The secret is learning the right love language!

Understanding how various generations communicate and behave can be the key to success in reaching a common goal. Bridging the Generation Gap shows participants the unique characteristics of many generations that exist today providing a foundation to enable improved across generations through increased knowledge of generational characteristics, influences and priorities.

This workshop is designed to help Marines and their families minimize stress by providing them with the information and skills needed to successfully navigate both everyday stressors and the extraordinary stress of the Marine Corps lifestyle

Inner Balance: Anger Management

Inner Balance: Stress Management

This workshop is a basic overview of anger management. It provides education on the dynamics of anger and offers a variety of acceptable coping strategies to handle angry feelings and behaviors

Inner Balance: Conflict Management

This workshop addresses interpersonal conflict and is designed to help Marines and their families become knowledgeable about conflict and empower them to make healthy choices by managing their responses to conflict, both at home and in the work place.

This workshop is designed to help Marines and their families minimize the feeling of overwhelm and related stress by providing them with the information and skills needed to set personal priorities, feel empowered and maintain a positive work-life balance

This fun and interactive workshop explores etiquette at the Marine Corps Ball and other social functions We will discuss Marine Corps customs, attire for events, table manners, proper introductions and more Ready, Set, Prepare!

Preparation is key to overcoming and surviving natural disasters

Environmental hazards are present no matter where service members and their families. "Ready, Set, Prepare" shows how to plan and prepare for the unexpected and keeping you and your family as safe as possible. This course explains the geographic dangers specific to your location and provides the tools necessary to successfully navigate them

If you can dream it, you can do it!

Come to this fun, hands on class to create your very own vision board and design the life you've always wanted! Vision boards are comprised of photographs, collages, mementos, drawings, and quotes, assembled together to create an inspiring visual representation of your values and personal aspirations.

Marine Corps Life will welcome poolee families and introduce them to the history, traditions, culture and mission of the Marine Corps Poolee families will learn about military lifestyle benefits and what to expect while the poolee transitions to a recruit at MCRD Parris Island and beyond.

The mission of L.I.N.K.S. is to empower Marines, Sailors, and their family members to navigate the military lifestyle and the unique challenges that it encompasses by increasing their understanding of the tools and resources available to them This is a great opportunity for families to receive a crash course in the Marine Corps Come get information about the history and traditions of the Corps, the benefits and services allotted, entitlements, deductions, and basic awareness of payday and leave & earnings statements, separation and deployment survival, homecomings, OPSEC, moving, investing in your community, and volunteer opportunities.

Marine Corps Life (for Poolee Families)

This session is for families that are new to recruiting Learn about the recruiting command structure, a glimpse into the average day of a recruiter, building strong relationships, and connecting in your new community. Self-Care

This workshop provides important information and resources in an interactive environment that prepare Marines and families for all the unique challenges that come with being a military family. A constant state of readiness and knowledge of programs can help families prepare for all stages of military life; deployments, moves, emergencies, and more.

Operation Safe and Sound

This workshop provides important safety precautions for military families, and instills spouses & family members with the ability and confidence to be responsible for their personal safety and the safety of their family while their Marine is mission focused

This workshop promotes personal success through self care. Topics includes stress management, staying connected, dealing with emotional ups and downs, and available resources. This is a great opportunity for you to examine your current self-care, get new ideas, and inspire the motivation to better care for yourself This class is also a great opportunity to network with other Marine Corps spouses and significant others.
