Another year in the books, and another truly fantastic year for Food and Beverage at Wakefield Plantation!I cannot thank you and your families enough for supporting our events and dining presentations. From those who have been a part of the success and growth of the Breaker Bar and Grille at the Sports Club, to the inaugural group of members who helped launch the Wakefield Plantation Wine Society and all of our members in between who have dined or partied with us, I thank you for jumping in and enjoying what this team has worked hard to offer. I am truly proud of the talent and passion across the entire Wakefield Plantation team. We have a creative and gifted group of leaders, across every department, who deeply care about what they do. Your Food and Beverage team here at Wakefield is an extension of that culture as well. Throughout the team, we have incredible people who are passionate and are just really good at what they do. Dining at Wakefield will continue to grow and strive to find fresh ways for you to enjoy the club community we are proud to be a part of. Let’s keep moving forward together! FAMILY DISNEY BRUNCH

When: Sunday, January 15th I 11:00am-1:00pm Location: Main Clubhouse Fee: Adult: $22.95++ I Child 6-12: $13.95++ I 5 & under free

This is a family brunch event you and the kids will absolutely love! There will be some Disney character favorites joining us at the club for a special brunch, one the kids will not surely forget! It will be a great time, fun for everyone and you will be able to get some great pictures! Brunch buffet will be served from 11 am to 1 pm. Please sign up online through the McConnell Golf Calendar soon as space is limited.

COMEDY NIGHT

When: Saturday, January 21st I 6:30pm dinner/8pm show Who: Adults Only I Location: Clubhouse Fee: $65.00++ per person (includes dinner & show)

Join us for a night that will kick off 2023 with loads of laughs! Start the night with some cocktails and dinner followed by showtime at 8pm. We are excited to welcome Kier! In 25 years, Kier has done it all and done it all over the world including entertaining the troops in Europe, Asia, and the Persian Gulf. He has worked with such greats as Reba McEntire, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Daniel Tosh, Darius Rucker, Ronnie Milsap, and many others, including appearances on the Bob & Tom Show.

Kier’s impressions include Sting, Springsteen, Dave Matthews, U2, Macklemore, Sinatra, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Waylon & Willie, Tom Petty, Prince, Barry White, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, and many others. Plus, his World-Famous History of Rock Guitar Riffs. Reservations are required. Please reserve your spot by Tuesday, January 17th.

DINING CLOSURES:

Wakefield Dining will be closed for annual cleaning and maintenance starting January 1st through January 5th. Dining will re-open Friday, January 6th at 11:00 AM for normal dining hours.

What a wonderful year 2022 was! Thanks so much to our amazing Wakefield Membership for all of the support that you showed the club and all of its employees in 2022! We could not do it without you! We are starting out the New Year with lots of great things happening here at Wakefield. In January we are hosting a Family Disney Brunch that will feature some of your favorite Disney Characters to visit with! Our always popular Comedy night will also take place on January 21st, so grab a sitter and come on out for good food and good laughs! Tommy has some great stuff for our Wakefield Plantation Wine Society so be on the lookout for pop up tastings during January and February. We will of course host a special dinner on February 14th for all of our Sweet Hearts on Valentine’s Day, so don’t forget to make your reservations. I am excited to also announce that we will be hosting the first of a three night Wine Dinner Tour with Christi Kerr this year on February 15th here at Wakefield. Chef Todd and I will also be traveling to Sedgefield Country Club and Old North State as well to finish out the tour! Look out for an email with information about reserving your spot for this special dinner featuring wine pairings from the Kerr Winery in Napa Valley, CA in addition to fabulous food prepared by our executive chef’s across different McConnell Clubs. This year the Father Daughter Dance on February 25th will be “Ties & Tiaras” , so dads and daughters come dressed to impress! Last, but certainly not least, I am so excited to announce that my little nephew Trace will be becoming a BIG BROTHER in April of this year! I am so thrilled for my brother and sister in law as they add to their wonderful family this spring! VALEINTINES DINNER

When: Tuesday, February 14th I 5:30pm-8:30pm Location: Main Clubhouse Fee: $110++ per couple Make your Valentine’s date plans to enjoy a three course prix-fixe menu with live music in the dining room with wine and drink specials! You don’t want to miss what will be one of the best Valentine’s dinners in town! Complimentary glass of champagne will be included. FAMILY MUSIC BINGO NIGHT

When: Wednesday, February 22nd I 5:30pm-8:30pm Location: Main Clubhouse Fee: Music Bingo is free Come and Join us in the Main Dining room for a family fun night of Dinner and Music Bingo! The winner of each round will win a PRIZE! Music Bingo is a fun filled and fast paced take on traditional bingo! Players are given a bingo card where traditional bingo numbers have been replaced with song names, music titles or both! Your host DJ plays 10-15-second clips of music and you mark off spots on your bingo card. Play for as little or as long as you like. Rounds typically last 10-15 minutes.
