Types of Trailers for Semi-trucks

Semi-trucks offer multiple varieties of trailer options to choose from. The type of cargo needed to transport and the payload size determines the size and style of the trailer. The tractor unit or detachable front-axle assembly known as a dolly or a trail of another trailer supports a significant percentage of a semi trailer’s weight. When a trailer is uncoupled, it is equipped with landing gear to support it. Most trailers have repositionable wheels that can be uninstalled to better distribute the load to bearing weight wheel components. Semi-trailers, which have both front and rear axles, are more commonly used for transport than full trailers. One of the semi’s best features is its ease of backing. The tractor’s fifth wheel coupling connects the first semi-trailer to the power unit, while the converter trolly, already linked to the second semi-trailer, connects to the first semi-trailer with a drawbar.
