A major milestone was reached as the final steel beam was installed at the Casino Del Sol project site. Before its placement, the beam was signed by tribal leadership, project partners, and members of the Pascua Yaqui community—an act that honored the cultural significance and collective effort behind this important development.
The event marked more than just a construction achievement. For many attending, it represented progress, opportunity, and pride. There is a shared excitement about what this expansion means: the creation of new jobs and the continued growth of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s economic footprint in southern Arizona. This beam wasn’t just raised into place—it was lifted by the strength of tradition, partnership, and a shared vision for the future.
After a full week at the ACE Conference in Denver, our Water partners from across all regions came together and capped things off — literally — with a rooftop nightcap at our Denver office. With city views, casino games, 360 photo booth, whiskey bar, and custom cocktails, it was the perfect setting to unwind and connect.
Our team and leadership had the chance to spend real face time with the clients and trade partners who play a key role in our pursuits over the next few years. It was a great chance to show off our local space and reinforce that we’re proudly rooted right here in the Mile High City.
Huge shoutout to our incredible water partners and marketing team for making the night one to remember.
“CLEAN AS YOU GO!” DRIVES SAFETY AND TEAM SPIRIT AT SUN POND SOLAR
Partners Kayla Thomason, Learning and Development Specialist, Northern Pacific Region, and Julian Gutierrez, Workforce & Community Engagement Manager, joined Elvy Massoud, Senior Learning and Development Specialist, Southwest Region, and Fernanda Maqueda, Learning and Development Manager, Regional Enterprises, for a jobsite tour of our Chandler Prefabrication Facility during a recent visit to the Southwest region. The visit offered an opportunity to align on key learning and development initiatives across regions, with thoughtful discussion around process consistency and shared priorities.
Collaboration was front and center as partners explored ways to strengthen and scale programs that support growth, development, and engagement company-wide. The day wrapped up with a dose of creativity at a Paint & Sip event, where partners swapped helmets for paintbrushes and walked away with a unique masterpiece—and even more energy for the work ahead.
“Clean as you go!” was the safety slogan of the day as Elizabeth Duenez, Project Safety Manager, welcomed 20 new partners and summer interns with an engaging and dynamic safety presentation at Sun Pond Solar. The energy stayed high as Adam Hauck and Carson Bales guided the group through informative tours of the substation, Battery Energy Storage System, and photovoltaic sites. The day wrapped up with a memorable barbecue cookout and an epic karaoke sing-along, perfectly blending safety education, team building, and fun—capturing the true spirit of Regional Enterprises.
The latest Management 101 cohort brought together 29 emerging leaders for an engaging and reflective learning experience. Early in the program, partners Keith Hilker and Keith Wagner led an interactive activity emphasizing the critical balance between people leadership and process focus—an essential skill for effective management. The program concluded with a dynamic leadership Q&A panel, where participants connected with senior leaders, posed thoughtful questions, and gained valuable insights into the realities of successful leadership. This cohort is well on its way to shaping the future of leadership within the company.
At the Q2 Regional Onboarding and Welcome event, 35 of our newest partners gathered to connect, learn, and explore ways to contribute to McCarthy’s culture and business. Following a tour of Vantage with the Mission Critical Business Unit, partners engaged with leadership and peers, gaining valuable insights into the organizational structure, business units, and shared company goals. Nicole Maas, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, highlighted the importance of building strong relationships—both inside and outside the company—as a foundation for long-term success. This event set the stage for a welcoming and collaborative start for our newest team members.
Madison Elementary School District recently broke ground on Rose Lane Elementary’s comprehensive campus rebuild for the K-through-fourthgrade Rose Lane Rockets.
“We are deeply grateful to Orcutt Winslow (Grace Design Studios) and McCarthy for their thoughtful collaboration with our community on this project — ensuring that the heart and history of Rose Lane is honored throughout the process.”
The newly reimagined performing arts campus will feature a 47,600-square-foot, two-story classroom building complete with dance and music studios.
The school’s new multi-purpose performing arts center will serve both as a gym and cafeteria, with a stage that opens for indoor-outdoor performances.
In their last week before summer break, the Rockets celebrated the occasion with student musical performances, custom cookies, and coloring sheets to design their dream school!

America’s Friendliest Airport is taking beginning strides in achieving it’s 20-year Comprehensive Asset Management Plan (CAMP) through the addition of six new gates in Terminal 3.
The Terminal 3 North 2 (T3N2) project will also feature new public retail and restroom space, an upper mezzanine lounge area, and multiple back-of-house support spaces. The team is also building a bridge to connect the concourse to the Terminal 3 processor.
This project serves as the predecessor to Sky Harbor’s plans for a new West Terminal in the place of former Terminals 1 and 2.
“This new N2 is the last footprint that we can build on to the existing Terminal 3 without some improvements to the roadways and the connection on to the West Terminal. And it’s also meeting the capacity of what the terminal buildings themselves from a ticketing processing and back handling processing could handle.

Joined by the Tucson community and members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, the Casino Del Sol team signed the beam and topped out the 154,000-square-foot Grant Road casino.
The casino itself aims to create more than 1,000 local jobs, featuring a high limit room, slots, sportsbook area, player’s club and table games. For dining, the casino will boast a food court, central bar, and a feature dining concept.
“What we heard repeatedly from the leadership here at Pascua Yaqui is that they want to be safe, sustainable, and able to support their own initiatives. This project strengthens tribal sovereignty and represents exactly that kind of investment in the future.”
- PIMA COUNTY SUPERVISOR, ADELITA GRIJALVA
Expected to welcome tourists and visitors in Fall 2026, the site also hosts a 360,000-square-foot parking structure to hold over 1,000 cars across four levels.

BESS & MICROGRIDS CRUCIAL TO POWER SUPPLY STRAIN
With the rapid nationwide growth of high power consuming infrastructure, such as data centers, the power grid is struggling to meet the peak demand during the work week or summer heat. The solution? Microgrids and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This article, co-authored by Kyle Smith and Ryan Ferguson, dives into the options for providing resiliency to power users through methods including solar, wind, and BESS. These means aim to provide backup power and reduce transmission losses, whether connected to the grid or sitting on site.
“Microgrids and BESS optimize local energy resources, reducing the need for long-distance transmission and associated losses. This localized approach not only improves the efficiency by which energy is dispatched, but also cuts costs, making energy supply more affordable and reliable.”

Renewable Energy Quality recently hosted a back-tobasics training focused on strengthening core skills and tools that drive project success. Over the course of a day and a half, quality managers and quality personnel came together for hands-on learning and collaboration. The training covered essential topics, including standardized site quality plans, inspection and test plans, Procore workflows, quality assessments, and the use of data and metrics. Partners worked through real project scenarios to apply these tools in ways that reinforce compliance and improve performance tracking on active jobs. By returning to fundamentals, the session ensured alignment across teams and equipped each partner with practical strategies to elevate quality on every project.
On Tuesday, June 24, several McCarthy volunteers traveled to Prescott Pines Campground to take part in Arizona Bleeding Disorder’s 30th Annual Camp H.O.N.O.R. (Hemophiliacs Overcoming New Obstacles Resourcefully). This special camp is designed to give children with medical needs the chance to enjoy classic camp activities—such as canoeing, camping, sports, team-building games, arts, and crafts—all within a supportive environment equipped to meet each child’s unique needs.
Partners from McCarthy helped welcome more than 70 kids, ages 7 to 18, and joined them in the camp’s beloved kickoff tradition: a spirited slime fight that marked the beginning of a week full of fun, connection, and unforgettable memories.
To add to the fun, this event brought a special opportunity for Abby Godfrey to skip down memory lane. Back in 2005, she was a camper at Prescott Pines, and this visit allowed her to recreate some of her favorite moments and reflect on how the campgrounds have changed.
Thank you to Heart Hats for attending such a meaningful and joyful event!

A huge shoutout goes to the Self-Perform Steel team for successfully completing the erection of the architectural canopy at Arizona State University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building 12. This major milestone was the result of extensive planning, collaboration, and expert execution. The canopy—measuring in at approximately 69,000 pounds, or 31 tons—was fully constructed on the ground and then lifted into place in one smooth, coordinated operation. Supported by four structural columns, the lift took place over the course of roughly four hours, with partners executing each step with precision and efficiency. This achievement was made possible through the dedication of partners Gael Ortega, General Foreman, Dom Issacson, Superintendent, their erection crews, Mauricio Underwood, Design Manager, Efrain Lopez, Senior Project Engineer, and George Raiche, Intern. Each brought key expertise and commitment to the process. Gratitude goes out to the ISTB12 project team and the Self-Perform Steel Fabrication team for their outstanding craftsmanship and collaboration on this technically complex and visually impactful project.
Cameron Van Kampen joined McCarthy about eight months ago and has already established a reputation as an efficient and skilled welders in the Pipe Fabrication Shop. Starting out as a plumber’s apprentice in the field, Cameron made a seamless transition into shop work—quickly mastering welding machines and consistently producing high-quality welds.
Currently holding more weld certifications than any other welder in Southwest Self-Perform, Cameron plays a vital role in assembling complex piping systems with precision and reliability. His focus, craftsmanship, and steady drive continue to raise the bar and inspire those around him. We appreciate Cameron for bringing excellence to every weld. Keep up the great work!
