CamPen Cagers lin Big West Coast Tourney SET-UP ATHLETIC PROGRAM FOR THIS COMMAND
NO LONGER 'DEVILDOGS'
TO BE HELD IN SAN DIEGO
In an area general order issued during the past week, it was announced that effective Wednesday, February 13, and each Wednesday thereafter, the nours between 1300 and 1600 will bJe devoted to .mpervised athlet'ics, by all organizations of this command. All personnel of the command, except the absolute minimum required to maintain essential camp and organizational activity, will participate. Personnel excused for the above reason will be ro_ tated so that no one will mi'>s two consecutive athletic periodÂŤ. It was pointed out in the. order that regul::r liberty will be suspended during the above mentioned hours. The athletic officers of the various organizations will be responsible fo,l' their respective units' athletic programs.
BILL TO HAVE MARINES ON ALL OCCUPATION DUTIES A bill introduced in' Congress on February 1, by Senator McMahon (D) Connecticut, proposed assignment of Marines to all occupation duties, permitting quick return of all Army personnel overseas. A companion bill was also introduced in the House of Representatives by Representative Kopplemann (D) also.of Connecticut. Under the bill the Marine Corps would be enlarged by voluntary enlistments and confined to unmarried men 18 to 25, or previously in the armed forces.

MOTOR TRANS CO "C" DISBANDS Area Headquarters announced during the past week that Company "C" Motor Transport Battalion (Provisional) Camp Pendleton, has been disbanded effective February 4.
CHAMP AFFAIR
With two practice sessions daily, plus regular scrimmages with various other bru.ketball teams in this area, the newly organized CamPen cage squad is being put through it's paces by 2ndLt A. Brindley, coach and top man on the squad.
A Leatherneck and his pooch, both bedecked' with ribbons and both of them veterans of Guadalcanal, were discharged from the Marine Corps here with congratulations for having served their country well. The Leatherneck was Corp. Harvey A. McIntyre, 21, of Long Beach, Calif., and his canine buddy is "Tippy." McIntyre spent 28 months overseas with the First Marine Division, taking part in the operations in the Solomons, New Britain and Peleliu. "Tippy," who met McIntyre at Guadalcanal, wears the AsiaticPacific, the American Theater and Presidential Unit Citation ribbons. "Tippy" did not seem as highly elated over the sight of the dis~ charge certificate as his "Buddy", but was in high spirits and entered into the occasion with congeniality.

With a Valentine's Day motif, the evening will include a buffet dinner, dance, party and selection of a queen for the occasion.
IRESERVATION BUREAU IIN L.A: CLOSES The Army and Navy Hotel Reservation Bureau, 411 West Fifth street, Los Angeles, has ceased operation effective January 31. No Hotel Reservation Bureau Service is now available to Naval personnel traveling on official 01'del'S or otherwise in the Los Angeles Area.
Coach Brindley and his men, although crowded for time, are working feverishly with eyes focused on the championship of the West Coast. The West Coast elimination tournament, sponsored by Marine Corps Headquarters, will be held at San Diego on February 18, 19 and 20, with teams from the various West Coast Marine posts and stations participating. A similar' tournament is scheduled to determine the East C,oast Champion Marine Team. According to an announcement by Marine .Corps Headquarters. the winners and runners up from each coast will meet in the east to determine the All American Marine Championship Team. Trophies and prizes will 'be awarded to the winners of the tourneys by Marine Corps Headquarters. With the important tournament only one week away, Coach Brindley and his boys are working day and night perfecting a smooth working offense and an effectiv~ defense. The CamPen squad is composed of a number of former high school and college stars, including Coach Brindley, who was an All American Center (1943-1944) while a member of the Dartmouth College quintet. Other members, of' the squad are: Second Lieutenants, William Burton, Robert McClure, Thomas Paton, James Redfield and Paul W. Rundell; Corp. F. L. Dechowitz, Corp Henry Poppe, Pfc Robert E. Creighton, Pfe James Patty, Pvt. Byron Russell, PhM3c Richard Haley, and Pm M3c Everett W. Campbell.
