GOLDEN AGE OLYMPICS 2021 REGISTRATION IS NOT ACCEPTED AT THE PARKS 1. All athletes must be 50 years of age or over to participate. AND RECREATION ADMINISTRATION OFFICE Age is calculated as of the beginning date of the event. Events LOCATED AT 1000 S. WARE RD. are open to all persons; there is no residency requirement.

AWARD MEDALS

Medals will be awarded at the end of each competition, MAIL IN REGISTRATION MUST BE RECEIVED AT LEAST ONE whenever feasible. Results for some events may require extra time to tabulate in order to provide scoring accuracy.

WEEK PRIOR TO EACH EVENT. ENTRY FEE FIRST EVENT: $7.00 per person ALL EVENTS THEREAFTER: $5.00 All sales are final. Refunds or substitutions are not applicable.

Transfers between events are allowed prior to original event date.

EVENT SHIRTS

T-shirts will ONLY be provided to participants in paid events of $7.00 and $5.00. Shirts for paid events will ONLY be distributed at each event. Limit one shirt per participant.

The McAllen Parks & Recreation Department takes the health and safety of our community as a top priority.

The City of McAllen has been and will continue to closely monitor information about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and recommendations from health officials to ensure every precaution is taken for the continued safety of our patrons. We continue to strongly urge citizens to take precautions to protect their health and safety such as frequently washing their hands for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching their face with unwashed hands, and covering their noses and mouths

GOLDEN AGE OLYMPICS 2021 BIRD-A-THON TEAM. (4 people per team) A variation of “The Big Sit”- the object is to tally as many bird species as can be seen or heard within an allotted time period in one location.

Awards determined by Best Overall Count and bonus points added for “Golden Bird” Sightings.

GOLF TEAM. Four (4) Person Team (one of each gender minimum) Scramble (Best Ball); 18 Holes. Shotgun start. Additional on-site fee applies. See below.

DATE: Tuesday, February 23 TIME: 8:00 a.m.

PLACE: Palm View Golf Course (956) 681-3444 2701 South Ware Rd. McAllen FEE: $37 green fee per person. Fees paid on-site at the Pro Shop.

CAR BINGO SINGLES. A drive up car bingo experience. Winners will receive prizes 10 games will be played per date.

DATE: Tuesday, February 2 & Thursday, February 18 TIME: 9:00 a.m.

JIGSAW PUZZLES 10 teams. (4 people per team) Complete up to a 750 piece puzzle within 3 hours.

DATE: Thursday, February 11 TIME: 1:00 p.m.

PLACE: Lark Community Center (956) 681-3340 2601 Lark Ave. McAllen

CHEER TEAM (12 Cheerleaders max per park) Requirements include 15 minute group show (cheers, dance, and costumes). Award Ceremony will take place immediately following the Cheer competition.

DATE: Friday, February 26 TIME: PLACE: FISHING TOURNAMENT SINGLES. Categories consist of: largest bass, largest bluegill, largest catfish.

DATE: Monday, February 6 - Friday, February 19 TIME: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

PLACE: Town Lake at Firemen’s Park

FACIAL COVERING REQUIRED

PHOTOGRAPHY SINGLES. Submit your nature photo to be included in online voting contest. Winners will be based on the number of “likes” received on social media.

SUDOKU SINGLES. Put your puzzle and number skills to the test.

PLACE: Lark Community Center (956) 681-3340 2601 Lark Ave. McAllen THE GREAT CHASE TEAM. (Two Men & Two Women) Travel through McAllen and beyond figuring out clues, photographing the results and racing back to the finish line to win. Digital camera and memory card required.
