The special education program at Back Creek Christian Academy serves students with mild, moderate, and significant disabilities. Students with disabilities receive the majority of their services and supports within the context of general education classrooms. Children with autism spectrum disorders are taught using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is a research-based method proven successful in treating children with language delays, communication disorders, and other developmental disabilities.

Students at the Tier 1 level are on usually on grade level or slightly below grade level and need instructional support to progress, which requires collaboration between the special education teacher and general education teacher. Accommodations are provided through differentiated assessment where students can show their skills in various ways. These students need specialized instruction or behavioral approaches to be successful, but do not require an additional paraprofessional support at all times. Parents receive progress reports for IEP goals on a quarterly basis.

Tier 1

Students at the Tier 2 level are performing at least 1-2 grade levels below and/or have behavioral difficulties that require additional support beyond the classroom management plan. For these students, ongoing planning and collaboration is needed, often requiring an additional paraprofessional support. Curriculum content may be modified as appropriate to teach the same concepts that the general education class is learning, but through differentiated instruction and evidence-based practices. Parents receive progress reports for IEP goals on a monthly basis.

Tier 2

The Student Services Department offers a continuum of educational services for students with learning challenges.

Tier 3

Students at the Tier 3 level are typically significantly below grade level in one or more academic and/or behavioral areas, which requires individualized instruction and/or behavioral approaches throughout the school day. Students at this tier level need carefully planned lesson development and specific techniques to deliver instruction within the context of the general education classroom. The content is related to the general education classroom curriculum but may also focus on instruction for independent functioning, social and communication skills.

7 DAY 4 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Psalm 42:5 YIELD I thirst for grace in Christ Merciful Lord God, you are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You say “It is done” of things that are yet to come, so faithful and true are your promises. You have promised by your own word, out of your own mouth, that to anyone who is thirsty you will give the fountain of the water of life freely. O Lord, I thirst. long for one drop of mercy. As the deer pants for the water, so my soul pants for you, O God, and for your compassion. If I had the glory, the wealth, and the pleasure of the whole world— if I had ten thousand lives, joyfully I would lay them down, just to have this poor trembling soul received into the bleeding arms of my blessed Redeemer. My desire is for the pardon and grace of Jesus Christ. And Lord, in your blessed book you cry, “Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters.” In that great day of the feast, you stood and cried, “If anyone thirst, come to me and drink.” And these are your own words: “Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.” I challenge you, Lord, in my extreme thirst for you, and for spiritual life in you, by that word, and by that promise which you made—make it good to me. grovel in the dust and tremble at your feet. Open now that promised well of life. For must drink or else I die. Amen. — Isaac Ambrose 1 2019-2020 SUNDAY SCHOOL & WORSHIP CARE VOLUNTEER MANUAL
