Researchers project the global artificial intelligence market size to reach $733.7 billion by 2027, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 42.2 percent. In this briefing, our speaker will discuss the link between artificial intelligence and data, and the increasing need for cybersecurity in advancing manufacturing and other industries, including health care, finance, education and more. Timothy Kurzweg, Ph.D., is the director of the School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend and a professor of electrical and computer engineering. Kurzweg holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He has a bachelor’s degree from Penn State. He has served as principal or co-principal investigator for approximately $9.5 million in funded research and has published more than 80 journal and conference papers. He also holds multiple patents. Before joining Penn State Behrend in July 2018, he previously served as vice provost for undergraduate education and professor of electrical and computer engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia. At Penn State Behrend, Kurzweg leads an engineering school with 1,600 students and a top-50 national ranking, according to U.S. News & World Report.
