We believe in supporting local and superyacht community initiatives as well as partnering with businesses and organisations that share our philosophy and raise awareness on social and environmental issues.

Context

Our goal is to use our position as a leader within the industry to raise awareness, influence the conversation, and form strategic partnerships with businesses and organisations locally, nationally, and internationally to promote positive change throughout the value chain and in the communities where we operate.

Alliances

ICOMIA

We are a founding member of the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group and contributed to the development of the Standard Refit Contract developed by ICOMIA, the Code of Practice for the members of the organisation and the Client’s Guide to Good Refit Governance.

Submon

Developing marine biodiversity conservation projects while working on creating a healthy relationship between communities and the sea. We are partners and participants in the Underwater Forests project, a blue carbon offsetting and biodiversity conservation initiative.quality.

A forum connecting innovative companies from outside the maritime industry with MB92.

Water Revolution Foundation

Promoting sustainability in the superyacht industry through collaboration and innovation, leading the way to the neutralisation of the environmental footprint and the preservation of the oceans. We are an “Anchor Partner” and collaborate and participate in foundation projects.

Barcelona Clúster Nàutic

Local business network collaborating on sustainability initiatives, innovation and identifying blue economy opportunities.

Port de Barcelona

We work closely and share future plans with the port authority of Barcelona, regularly attending workgroups such as sustainability, professional training, or innovation.

SEA Index

Corporate members of the Monaco-based organisation whose aim is to mobilise industry stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions.

Barcelona Blue Economy

We collaborate with the Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Activa (Barcelona local development agency), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Barcelona School of Nautical Studies, and the Barcelona Nautical Cluster, to define the blue economy framework in Barcelona.

Community projects

Barcelona

Blue-carbon offsetting Supporting local non-profit initiatives that mitigate the impact of projects undertaken in the facilities.

Nadal al Port Vell Annual event which brings Barcelona citizens closer to the city’s maritime heritage.

Belong to Sea Create a culture of awareness and promote behavioural changes to improve sustainability. Over the past year, we collaborated on a series of projects dedicated to the environment in the neighbourhood of La Barceloneta.

Local climate actions Strong commitment to the climate change goals of the local council, Compromís Acció Climàtica in Barcelona (Global Change, Green Deal, Local Administration).

Contenidor Solidari Annual food donation event organised by Port de Barcelona and Banc dels Aliments where MB92 Barcelona participates each Christmas. Barceloneta Christmas Tree Gift of two Christmas trees to the residents of La Barceloneta to decorate the main square.

Blue Economy We participate in a series of activities to help boost the economic sectors of the Blue Economy in Barcelona, to develop the city into a benchmark in the European Mediterranean, based on a sustainable vision. These activities include:

• The Xarxa Marítima de Catalunya project Consisting of 64 Research Groups which will conduct their activities in all the sectors of the Blue Economy.

• The Blue Economy Innovation Hub The epicentre of Entrepreneurial and Technological Innovation in the sectors making up the Blue Economy in Barcelona. Founded by MB92 Barcelona, the Hub‘s objective is to increase the competitiveness of the Blue Economy in Barcelona, the transfer of technology and knowledge, and, finally, to enhance the participation between participants.

La Ciotat

UN Global We are a signatory of the UN Global compact for sustainable development. In addition, we are an active collaborator in several regional marine associations, such as:

WeOcean Dynamic La Ciotat association whose goal is to build a network of initiatives that create synergies between the work of all actors involved in the protection of the Mediterranean Sea.

Aquapassion Based in La Ciotat, Aquapassion fosters awareness of the marine environment, particularly among local school children, and campaigns against pollution.

Future actions

Participation in the mapping of important bio-conservation areas along the Catalan coast using drones.

Development of a CSR strategy.

Creation of a sustainablity handbook that provides best practices for captains and crew. Participation with clients on a local blue carbon project that will contribute both to the capture/offset of CO2 emissions and to protect ocean biodiversity.

Promotion of sustainability initiatives among suppliers and collaborators.
