( Holland-Jackson Women’s Missionary Society)

Pastor Karen L. Washington is a native of the Island of Be grandmother instilled in her the gospel of Jesus Christ, the v y p of commitment and the love of God.

Pastor Washington answered her call from God to itinerate orders and in June 2004 preached her initial sermon. On April 14, 2007, she was ordained an Itinerate Deacon and March 21, 2010, an Itinerate Elder of the AME Church.

Pastor Washington was appointed to New Elizabeth AME Church September 2011, and a new vision was birthed. Through her leadership, New Elizabeth has risen above past challenges and is a thriving church in the community of Newark, Delaware.

Pastor Washington serves on the Delaware Conference Board of Examiners; Director of Stewardship; Statistician and is a member of Women In Ministry. She is a prolific preacher, teacher, and prayer warrior. The anointing upon her life is evident as she is called to preach throughout the Tri-State area.

Pastor Washington’s calling is not specific to one state of God’s people. Pastor Washington is called to humble the mighty and to raise the destitute; to empower God’s people through teaching, preaching and by example. Her calling is that of the attributes of the prophet Jeremiah; to root out, pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant; to be a messenger and mouthpiece for God, to God’s people under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Favorite Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

My Prayer during the Pandemic: I pray that God will show His mighty hand during the pandemic for all to see. I pray for healing, protection, restoration and for God’s people to return to Him and that God’s will be done
