Living on campus gives you the chance to meet tons of new people and develop lasting friendships.

Each residence hall is equipped with live-in professional and student staff who are available to all residents. They are here for advice, referrals, or simply when you need someone to talk with.

Safety and security are a number-one priority for all of our residence halls and apartments. You (and your parents) can rest comfortably knowing that security and residence hall staff are keeping an eye on things.

First-time participants - high school students, transfers from non-NAIA schools, and those who have never participated in athletics at an NAIA member school must register with the online service.

When you take the ACT or SAT tests, be sure to specify the code 9876 to have your test scores sent directly to the NAIA Eligibility Center.

Ask your high school guidance counselor or college registrar to send your official transcript to the NAIA Eligibility Center.

The costs for a double room may vary from $2,520 in a traditional residence hall to $4,516 for apartments. Dining Services food plan options are $1,510/semester, $2,500/semester, or $2,939/semester.

AFFORDABILITY IS A TOP PRIORITY. According to information posted to university websites, Mayville State University is priced, on average, $5,650 per year lower than the larger universities in our region. Among these colleges and universities that claim similar outcomes relative to graduate and professional school admission and job placement, Mayville State provides exceptional academic quality and great value. On Mayville State’s campus, students receive the attention and direction that they expect and deserve from their instructors. There’s an instructor for every 12 students on Mayville State’s campus. On larger campuses in the region, the student-tofaculty ratio can be as high as 20:1, with lectures on campus holding up to 200 students. We can provide the personal service our school stands by.

Financial Aid Cost of Attendance

Mayville State University Financial Aid ensures that Cost of Attendance (COA) accounts for essential living expenses, including provisions for transportation, housing, food (3 meals a day/7 days a week), books, and other miscellaneous personal expenses throughout each semester. This comprehensive approach to budgeting reflects the university’s commitment to supporting students’ holistic well-being during their academic journey.

It’s critical to note that the COA, often referred to as the “budget,” serves as an estimate of the total expenses students may face while attending university; however, it is not the final cost Personal expenses vary per student.

1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.studentaid.gov.

2. Be sure to list MSU’s federal school code on your application: 002993.

3. Once the FAFSA is processed, MSU will receive your information and will make every effort to provide adequate financial assistance.

SCHOLARSHIPS

1. New first-year and transfer students are eligible to receive Honor Scholarships. See the details on page 8.

2. Endowed MSU Foundation Scholarships: Scholarships designated for specific academic divisions are awarded by that designated division. Scholarship applications received by the March 15 priority deadline are sent to division chairs for their review and determination.

3. Diversity Waivers: Students are required to apply each year through the MSU Scholarship Portal. Students must have maintained a cumulative institutional grade point average of at least 2.00 to be considered for waiver or for a renewal.

4. Participation Scholarships: Scholarships are available for those students who participate in music. Participation is the only basis for eligibility.

5. Dual Credit Waiver: This unique waiver program is available only to those students who enrolled in dual credit high school courses offered through Mayville State.

6. Nelson Family Endowed Scholarship: The Nelson Family Endowed Scholarship is a scholarship opportunity that is meant to help non-traditional students 25 years and older achieve their goals. The assistance is especially geared toward those individuals who may be changing their paths in life or those pursuing changes in careers. A special emphasis of the scholarship is to promote the concepts of volunteerism, leadership, development, and out-of-classroom experiences for the scholarship recipients. Students apply for this scholarship through the MSU Scholarship Portal.

To apply for MSU scholarships and waivers, you must log in to the MSU Scholarship Portal: mayvillestate.edu/scholarships. You must be an admitted student to apply. All U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) prior to applying for scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY FOR FIRST-YEAR HONOR SCHOLARSHIP:

• New student, first post-secondary enrollment at Mayville State University; or First-year standing (attending a post-secondary institution after high school graduation and have less than 24 earned college level credit hours to transfer from all prior post-secondary instituions.

• All applicants complete an essay and provide one letter of recommendation.

• Unweighted final high school GPA is used to determine the award level as identified above.

• New students shall live in dorms and have a meal plan per Mayville State policy.

• Student must remain enrolled as a full-time student (12+ credits) at Mayville State University.

• All U.S. and Canadian citizens are eligible.

• First-year students who have taken dual credit, PSEO, or concurrent enrollment credits are eligible for the First-Year Honor Scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY FOR TRANSFER STUDENT HONOR SCHOLARSHIP:

• Transfer student with 24+ earned college level credit hours pursuing first bachelor’s degree.

• College GPA used to determine award level.

• Student must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be in good academic standing for second term.

• All U.S. and Canadian citizens are eligible.

MSU accepts transfer credit from regionally accredited institutions, institutions accredited by an association that is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and foreign universities recognized by a country’s Minister of Education. Online class sizes are small, typically around 25 students per class section, so that you can receive personal attention from our experienced instructors.

QUALITY INSTRUCTORS

The majority of our online and distance course instructors are full-time, on-campus instructors. This means you are receiving quality instruction from experienced university instructors.
