I Am Not Diabetic. Should I Monitor Blood Glucose Frequently? Undoubtedly, diabetics should monitor their blood glucose frequently. It helps to keep blood glucose levels under control or close to the normal range, preventing symptoms and complications in the future. Most importantly, regular monitoring prolongs life and improves the quality of life. But, the question is for the non-diabetics “ Should they monitor blood glucose level?” Whether you are a diabetic or non-diabetic, the fear is always there. You cannot say that your body is safe from blood sugar fluctuations. Even if everything is perfectly fine, an increase or decrease in blood sugar levels can make things problematic for you. Your body can get trapped with different kinds of chronic health problems without being aware of the same. In simple words, your life might turn upside down if your blood sugar levels are not within the normal range. Some more important reasons for non-diabetics to monitor blood sugar levels frequently To detect prediabetes- If your blood sugar is higher than normal but not enough to reach the diabetes range, you are pre-diabetic. From this stage, you can bounce back. It means you can get back to normal by following simple precautions and changing your lifestyle. Regular monitoring will help you detect prediabetes on time or help you know your blood sugar range and determine the right stage. This becomes important if you come from a family with a diabetes history or other similar factors. Other than this, if you are taking medicines that can raise blood sugar, you should monitor regularly. For healthy people, testing every three years or so is recommended. If you are detected with prediabetes, testing should be done at least yearly. To optimize blood sugar for peak mental or physical performance- Diabetic or non-diabetic, the blood sugar levels are uncertain. Without any warning, the levels can increase or decrease anytime and every time. Regular monitoring will let you know the levels and help you make changes to keep the levels in an “ideal range”. This way you will optimize the blood sugar and its mental or physical performance at peak perfect. Diabetes will be under control and your body will be healthy. To have good control of your body- Knowing the blood sugar levels means knowing an important element of your body and health. It’s because abnormal or uncontrolled sugar levels lead to many chronic health problems. Also, the body feels out of control. With regular monitoring, you will have a sense of control over your body and health. You will know how to take care of your body and avoid problems on the way.
