Get ready for sunny summer days! Relax by the Outdoor Pool with your family or let your kids enjoy all the fun and adventure that Camp at the J has to offer. Plus, we’ve got a variety of exciting summer activities for everyone to enjoy!

We’re kicking things off with our annual J Classic, celebrating 30 years of community and fundraising. Join us for a day of golf, tennis, pickleball, canasta, mahj, and more. Young adults are invited to spend their evening at our popular Par-Tee event, featuring refreshing drinks, tasty food, and great company. Stay on track with your fitness goals through our small group programs like Summer Shape Up or Six Weeks to Shred. These are perfect for building strength and forming new friendships. Be sure to check out our new Pilates course offerings and popup sessions! The updated studios blend luxury and accessibility, allowing for a more personalized client experience.

We have engaging activities planned for the whole family, too. Join us for our annual Rainbow Challah Bake, cheer on FC Cincinnati at Jewish Community Night, and save the date for our Fall Market. J Prime participants can enjoy a cooking class, and our 20s and 30s crew is looking forward to plenty of events, including Camp for Young Adults, to keep the fun going all summer long!

PERSONAL TRAINING

Improve your workouts with one of our highly qualified trainers who can help you achieve your fitness goals including weight loss, strength training, toning, and postrehabilitation through program design, education, individual support, motivation, and more!

We offer private, small group, and partner training, as well as specialized Pilates

Reformer training. To start your training out right, you’ll receive a FREE InBody® health and fitness body composition assessment when you sign up for personal training.

Building strength is the foundation to increasing your fitness level and preventing muscle and bone loss. Learn to properly lift using barbells, dumbbells, and cable machines for an hour per week in a small group setting under the supervision of a JCC certified trainer.

TREK TO ISRAEL

Trek to Israel without having to leave the Fitness Center! For every 30 minutes of workout time, you’ll gain 100 miles towards the challenge. Earn 6,200 miles to reach Israel and win $10 credit to your J account!

SPORTS PERFORMANCE TRAINING PROGRAM

One-hour sessions; minimum 4-week commitment Best results are seen year-round. However, we see strong improvement at 12 - 24 sessions.

Our Sports Performance Training Program utilizes high-speed treadmill training in all directions of movement and on inclines to prepare you for your best season yet. In addition, we will be using the turf room and track to work laser-measured drills such as 10-yard starts, pro agility, and 40-yard sprints. Running form, deceleration, change of direction, and speed development will be a major focus. Plyometrics will also be utilized to enhance skills needed in your specific sports. Vertical jump and broad jump testing will also be performed and retested frequently to master your new skills. Functional strength and core training will also be utilized with the goal of maximizing fasttwitch muscle fiber conversion using velocity-based training.

Swim Lessons at the J

We offer year-round swim lessons for all ages and abilities. Our aquatics program is designed to teach personal water safety and stroke development. All lessons are taught by certified instructors. Group lessons cannot be prorated, refunded, or made up, due to limited class capacity.

This class is designed for children with little exposure to the water. The goal is for students to comfortably perform these skills in preparation for Swim 101: front kick with floatation up to 10 feet, back float with support, and submerge up to 3 times repeatedly with air exchange. Children will also practice entering and exiting the water safely.

This class is a more intensive session of Swim 100. We will cover similar skills, meeting Monday through Friday for two weeks.

This class is for children who can comfortably perform the basic skills taught in Swim 100. They will practice front, back, and in-line kick, repeated submersion and breath control, surface swimming with pop-up breathing, and rolling over to float. Graduates will be able to swim 15 feet unassisted, breathing as needed, as well as being able to roll from face-down in the water to rest in a back float for at least 5 seconds.

ADVANCED STROKE DEVELOPMENT

This class is for swimmers who want to learn basic swim team skills while also working on strokes and endurance. Upon graduation, swimmers will be able to demonstrate 50 yards each of legal freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly with a flip turn and racing dive entry, as well as a 100 yard Individual Medley of all 4 strokes.

Art-making begins this summer for the fall festival of Sukkot* celebrated with the J’s annual Under One Roof community art exhibit, featuring artwork designed by organizations, groups, and individuals around their interpretation of this year’s central theme.

The Under One Roof Sukkah Art Exhibit is displayed in a temporary sukkah in the Mayerson JCC courtyard. During the fall display dates, a variety of events take place to celebrate community, art, and conversation.

Under One Roof is made possible by presenting partner Rockwern Charitable Foundation. This program is funded in part by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati.

*Sukkot is the Jewish festival giving thanks for the fall harvest. It also commemorates the 40 years of the Israelites wandering in the desert after Sinai. It is also the Hebrew word for the temporary structures built to celebrate the holiday.

Add years to your life and life to your years! Join us for a discussion on the Netflix documentary series Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, created by National Geographic. Featuring Dan Buettner and his team of scientists and demographers, the four-part series depicts their travels around the world in search of communities where people not only live longer, but also enjoy a higher quality of life. Each class session will feature an entire or partial episode from the series, followed by a discussion. We’ll examine whether the longevity and health seen in these regions are unique to their geography or replicable elsewhere.
