Welcome As we enter this Jewish new year at Rosh Hashanah, we commonly greet each other with the Hebrew phrase “Shana Tova,” a wish for a good year ahead. Whether your household is celebrating this September, or ringing in the new year January 1, we hope you have a great year. The turning of the calendar feels more significant and hopeful this year at the J—with renewed energy and bustling activity inside the building. This fall, we feel fortunate to be able to welcome you back to the J as a place to reconnect with one another and to be a part of our vibrant community. Our schedule is filled with exceptional programs and events for everyone to enjoy. So make sure to explore our 2021 Fall Program Guide to see all that we have to offer. Stock up on apples and honey to celebrate the new year and browse a variety of produce and handcrafted goods from local vendors at the Fall Market! Dozens of vendors will be selling everything from challah and honey cake to flowers and spices. Celebrate the festival of Sukkot with the Under One Roof community art exhibit, featuring artwork designed by groups and individuals around their interpretation of the theme “Resilience and Renewal.” The exhibit will be on display in a sukkah in the courtyard. Get outside and moving at our second annual Oy Vey 5K! Everyone is welcome to walk, run, or roll during this 3.1-mile event. After a virtual race last year, we are excited to be cheering you on in-person as you make your way through the course in Amberley Village. We hope you will celebrate Hanukkah with us, whether at our Menorah Lighting at the J, or at our family-friendly ice skating event on Fountain Square. “Shana Tova” and thank you for supporting the J,

Mah Jongg & Chess Players Mahj and Chess players can begin having their games at the J again. The card room (next to the Amberley Room) is on a first come/first serve basis for games. That room will continue to serve as the exit for group ex classes in the Amberley Room. They may also play in the café and in the courtyard any time after 2:00 pm as we have allowed in the past. We will consider adding other spaces at a later time if there is demand. At a minimum, individual players should be either full members of the JCC or members of the 60 & Better Center to use the facility for these games.

Support the J CONSIDER A GIFT TO THE JCC

Though times are uncertain, community is not. The JCC is more than a building; it’s the heartbeat of our community and a lifeline to many, now more than ever. Through these unprecedented times, we have had to pivot all of our programs and services to a virtual-setting, stretching our resources and funding to cover loss in revenue. We are doing our best to reduce expenses while continuing to serve our community, but we still need help. Your support is crucial in helping us navigate the challenges we are faced with due to the pandemic. We are dedicated to upholding our mission and values throughout these unprecedented times—connecting people so that they can live happier and fuller lives, creating a more vibrant Jewish community. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us continue to serve our community. Every dollar makes a difference. To donate, visit MayersonJCC.org/Support.

VOLUNTEER

Whether you want to give back to the community, make new friends, earn community service hours, or enhance your resume, the Mayerson JCC has many volunteer opportunities available year-round. Volunteers are matched with positions that fit their skills and interests. See opportunities and sign up online at MayersonJCC.org/Volunteer.

CREATE YOUR JEWISH LEGACY Consider a legacy gift to the JCC or PJ Library. Your impact can continue beyond your lifetime, as you help to create important community connections for generations to come. This could be the most important gift you ever make. Contact Rick Lefton at 513.761.7500 ext. 1293 or visit The Legacy Flame near the J Café to learn more about how you can join this vitally important initiative!
