Cultural Centre

The purpose of this project was to create a cultural centre for the Australian First Peoples.

Project –CULTURAL CENTRE

Connection to land is the basis of lifestyle for Australia’s First People, spirituality, culture, language, family, law, identity and story telling are the important aspects that relate to the land.

The interpretive Centre houses exhibition spaces, a museum space, a café, gift shop, workshop space and an open air amphitheatre.

Project –CULTURAL CENTRE

Detachment is the state of being isolated or detached. It can be the act of releasing from an attachment or connection. This opens up the mental capability to let go and reflect.

The retreat accommodation behind the interpretive centre gives the users an opportunity to detach from reality and connect to the land.

Project –CULTURAL CENTRE

The brief for the Green Urban Connector was to design a “bridge” that connects the Brisbane Botanical Gardens to Kangaroo point. The Botanical Gardens side of the river had more activity in general than the Kangaroo Point side, which fueled the idea that emphasis should be placed to encourage use and activity on the Kangaroo point side The concept of “gradients to influence pedestrian movement” was been adopted at all scales and perspectives

Materiality is another aspect which changes depending on activity and use. Where there is more intense use of space the facades of built forms are more open.

As the idea of the GUC is to be “green” the idea of planting to distinguish spaces is used throughout. All the central spaces of the GUC are an inviting space gathering space filled with greenery for people. There are multiple pathways to the urban bridge that connects the GUC to the parklands area for an easy access.

The multi level on the urban connector encourages the travellers to go on an exploration.

The lower observation deck provides a 360 view of the surroundings at the water level and give a memorable experience in experiencing the Urban Connector.

The development of this project is to consider the essentials of providing a modern sustainable urban design into an existing semiurban community. Personal intention to project is the definition of “Eco Luxury” connection us back to nature. Bringing the harmony again between man, nature and climate by supplying natural gifts, clean air, good light, refreshing breezes, beautiful green views to allow the large community a clean healthful lifestyle.

The structure design is based on the idea of nature unfolding into our existing community. Combination of an organic and a social change design.
