Unstable Revolutions
Maxwell Tfirn
Program Note Unstable Revolutions is s composition for 5 trumpets and computer. The composition uses various astronomy, cosmology and physics properties to generate various timbres of synthesized sound. The music that the performers are playing uses a combination of improvisational passages and spatially notated star maps in which pitch and dynamics are derived from. The composition takes shape and form through a collage type format. The performers are consistently changing between passages of music that blend with the computer sounds but uses very little transitional material. Instead the music quickly cuts and uses the contrast of fast passages and static ideas to keep the pacing.
Performance Notes

The composition is composed in seconds and spatial notation.
The performers are given an audio track visualization in the score so they can approximate the sound.
Seconds mark the pace.
Every performer should read from the score
Notation
Solid black lines extending horizontally indicate sustained notes
Solid black lines vertically indicate notes to be played at the same time
