Sweet Smell Of Success
It’s been all systems go for Best Kept Secrets over the past year, with business on the up, additional staff joining the company - both in the factory and on the sales front - and exciting plans afoot for expanding the candle factory this year. But even that’s not all that’s happening in 2020, as managing director Vanessa Curry told PG&H. For now though, with a brand new stand and repositioning at Spring Fair, the company is excited to unveil a raft of new products and fragrances, with a big focus on all things Japanese, home to the Olympics 2020. If one sporting event is guaranteed to dominate this summer, it’s the Tokyo Olympics, with Best Kept Secrets taking the Orient as its inspiration for the company’s new Spring/Summer products. “Traditionally, the cherry blossom festival is one of the most important events in the country, as visitors from around the globe flock to see the beautiful blooms - and they certainly are beautiful,” says Best Kept Secrets’ managing director Vanessa Curry. “We’re therefore excited to announce the arrival of our newest candle Sakura, meaning cherry blossom in Japanese, where we have embraced the cherry blossom in fragrance,

colour and style. We think it looks great and smells wonderful and therefore feel confident that it will be a big hit with our customers this year.” Floral and fresh aromas too, will continue to be among the company’s best sellers in 2020, predicts Vanessa. “When Spring arrives, we always see a change in direction from the warm, headier scents of Christmas to a shift towards clean crisp fragrances that evoke the feeling of new beginnings. “Plus, our Just Because and Tracey Russell collections remain ever popular, and we are continuing to offer new phrases and sentiments that are reflective of current tastes and trends. We have some interesting new names too, for this year,

such as ‘Love You Lots Like Jelly Tots’ and ‘Tick Tock Gin O’clock’, with the translation of our labels in Welsh, Maltese and Czech really testing our proofing skills! We’re also able to personalise the candles making them one of our best selling collections.” It's no wonder then, that Vanessa and the team are looking forward to February’s Spring Fair to showcase the new ranges and fragrances. “Following the show’s re-edit, we’re still in the same hall, hall 4, but have moved closer to the main walkways, and will be exhibiting in aisle C, stand number 51,” Vanessa highlights. As we go into 2020, is she seeing any purchasing trends? “Currently, it seems to be more about the products that complement Progressive Gifts & Home Worldwide
