English Bridge Newsletter
January 2022
A new newsletter from the best place to learn in Osh! Hello, and welcome to the English Bridge Newsletter from KUPUEV ACADEMY. The newsletter is the brainchild of our director Aselia Kupueva, and brought to life by our native speaking English teacher Mr Gideon. The newsletter is brought together by students and staff to celebrate achievements, to inform, to help, to teach and to entertain. There are interviews done by students on teachers, so we can get to know them better. There are health tips from our sports teacher, and English learning tips from our Head of English, alongside reviews and recommendations about what to watch, read and listen to from the students who watch, read and listen to it. Every month we will have our STUDENT OF THE MONTH section, where one student is selected from each grade, so we can get to know them too. If you would like to comment, ask questions or even submit an article, please contact us. So from all of the people involved in the making of this newsletter, we say WELCOME! and hope you enjoy it.
Vaccinations for staff at Kupuev Academy On Friday 28th January Staff were invited to come and have the Covid vaccination. Among those having the vaccination was Ms Shirin. We asked her why she was getting vaccinated today, she told us "Because I am careful of my health. I am thinking about my future and the future of my children that’s why I'm getting it." She went on to say that in her opinion it made sense to get the vaccination because teachers always work with a lot of students at school. We then asked her what we can do to help stop the spread of Covid. She said "All students should have masks, and adults should be vaccinated." When asked if she thought that everyone should be vaccinated she said "I can't say they should do it because it's their choice and no one can tell them to do it." When we asked our newsletter's Editor-in Chief, Mr Gideon, what his thoughts were on getting vaccinated, he said "I think it just makes simple, logical sense. There is a virus that can affect our health, and there is a vaccine that can protect against it, it just seems illogical not to get the vaccination.

Also, by getting the vaccination, we are helping to protect the children in our care. I think the first priority of every parent, teacher and anybody who deals with children, is to protect them. In my opinion getting the vaccine is one of the simplest and most logical way to do that." We thenasked the academy director about her thoughts on the subject. We are a school and we are stewards of the society as we teach kids sciences. If the science has proven that vaccinations save lives, it is our responsibility to get vaccinated. Its important that we protect ourselves, kids and those loved ones around us. At the same time, I do not believe in mandatory vaccinations as I believe that every person has the right to make their decisions and face consequences from their own decisions. Its a very sensitive subject and difficult to balance individual freedoms and need for public health. However, we at school must provide opportunities to make vaccination process easy for our teachers and staff, English Bridge Newsletter. and we applaud all those Editor-in-Chief – Mr Gideon who got vaccinated this Assistant Editor – Mrs Aisulu week. As for me personally, I got vaccinated three times (first two times with Sinofarm vaccine and third time with Pfizer booster). Every time I got vaccinated as soon as the vaccines have become available to me.
